@redenchilada The same thing SSH does- use asymmetric keys. Your "password" never has to actually be revealed to prove that you know it, so that the only way someone's going to get it is if they either figure out how to crack the asymmetric key encryption protocol (which would screw over the entire internet as it is right now anyway, because https relies on it) or mange to get your private key off your computer.
