@nerthos @greydragon412 There's nothing to be feared about knowledge. Only how it's used. For me, teaching religion also means teaching charity, love, patience, kindness, etc. Children are much smarter than most give them credit for. I believe they can handle doctrine (and sex ed for that matter) at a basic level from the time they learn to communicate.
