@firestormdangerdash It's not about being old news; it's about the difference between "OH MY GOD" and "that seems interesting hope it turns out well for the parties involved." And for the record they've always been looking for evidence of life regardless of whether they looked specifically for microbes. I think the scientific research that would follow the discovery will be much more interesting and groundbreaking than finding the actual microbe itself. (i.e. studying Mars to discover when and how Mars had the right concoction of favorable conditions for the creation of organic life)
