Again, I misspoke about slowing down, but I corrected myself on that point. I think in the case of Qwerty, productivity was linked to the mechanics of the typewriters so it's true that it was designed for efficiency, but it was also limited by the type writer. I maintain that it was designed for typewriters still. Obviously though, it wasn't meant to slow down typists.
