@ceruleanspark The teachers at my university now are evaluated by the students twice per semester. Usually they also take a pay cut just to teach at BYU because it's affiliated with a religious institution in which they believe and the community here is desirable in other ways. Only the best teachers stick around so we usually have an advantage that way, but student directed learning still seems like a cop-out to me.
