@metaltao with alicorns there natural and artificial alicorns. a natural alicorn is an ancestral being that is immortal and resides over the people like a deity, whereas an artificial alicorn (twilight,cadence) is not born into the alicorn race, rather converted after a great proving of skill in their life leading them to trancendance but they are left with the same lifespan they had regardless. (my headcannon deal w/ it)
