  1. Kittens must sacrifice 25 alicorns to earn a crystal needed for technological advancement.

          1. @rednorth I have an idea that is not so Cliched.
What about a genetic Birth Defect that causes great pain, stress, and almost certain death to the owner? And, this defect is wide spread and due to its associating with Alicorns, it makes many children high value targets for superstitious Cult activities. This Defect should also be widespread and related to either a conspiracy or a malfunction within the magic of the planet they live on itself. It would be a young alicorn and would follow the Journey for his/her survival with deformed wings and an almost inert horn.

            1. @metaltao so alicorns would be created by a birth defect that shortens their lifespan?

Wednesday, 25-Feb-15 00:12:41 UTC from web
              1. @rednorth Yes, and, grants them no power, it basically kills them due to the ability to harness it, but not use it.

                  1. @rednorth Possibly, but FoE has a lot more to do with the entire Scope of the Mind and Society as a whole. Mine is much more low key, and most likely will not reach that level. It may do OK if I make a oneshot out of it. But, I doubt it would touch as many subjects as FoE.

                2. @metaltao with alicorns there natural and artificial alicorns. a natural alicorn is an ancestral being that is immortal and resides over the people like a deity, whereas an artificial alicorn (twilight, cadence) is not born into the alicorn race, rather converted after a great proving of skill in their life leading them to trancendance but they are left with the same lifespan they had regardless. (my headcannon deal w/ it)

                  1. @rednorth I really hate Head Cannon, it feels a bit limiting to only try and believe on possibility when there is a Metaphorical universe of Ideas you can play with.
We can also discuss the possibility that Time never "Started" For Alicorns, Time always was and always will be, and the Alicorns were as well. So, there was always an Alicorn that Granted the powers and Shape of an Alicorn to another Mortal Pony. (Or, other creature, if creativity will allow it.) And, that maybe, there is a Fundamental Constant within the Universe such as Magic. Which, may mean, there are several instances of other Alicorns in other forms other than ponies. Or, that the Alicorns are a Race that has spread over the Galaxy to basically govern any life forms they find and, hold them to Idolitic Status.

                    1. @metaltao also part of my headcannon "when an alicorn births a child it dies in the process to pass on its immortality fading into dust before the child even see's them" yes but i explored many possibility's and came to the conclusion that this headcannon can give a good explenation of celstias 1500 year rule

                      1. @rednorth World Lines are used to Visualize Gravity in a familiar context. I am pretty sure we all believe in it. (Unless you are a flat Earther.)

                        1. @metaltao im not sure you undertand me, we live in series of "lines" that all occur simultaniously and endlessly there are an infinite number of them and they all have either a slightly different version of our current "line" or every so often there is a one that is nothing like ours, so if i went back in time and stopped 9/11 then i would be thrown into a "line" that is not paralel to our own in which no one would recall the 9/11 disaster but me and bush would likely not have been elected. although we have yet to invent a way to travel amongst the lines.(thats the theory anyway)

                              1. @rednorth Admittedly the show made reference to a whole bunch of real world concepts, but I mean the way you explained it is pretty much right from the show, sans example of course.

                    1. @metaltao not really, when you chose to make an OC you name it, you chose colors that you feel represent you, most people add features that they themselves have

Wednesday, 25-Feb-15 00:53:40 UTC from web
                      1. @rednorth So, All OCs, even Alicorns, are made for a reason? But, does adding features relating to oneself be the only conceptual reason? May I propose that OCs can be made to represent others. Can be made to Parody others. May be made to Honours others, or just be made to have a character to have others identify with when in an RP session.
They are just Characters. (I wonder what we are talking about here. OH WELL! Let;s keep talking!)

                        1. @metaltao i suppose its true, but alicorn oc's are more often than not poorly thought out and Mary Sueish; they lack charisma and are all "BEST FIRENDS" with celestia and luna, are invulnerable and omnipotent its simply lazy worksmanship!

                          1. @rednorth Have you considered, that maybe, these people who make them are fans of these ponies? And, such thoughts of being with people you idolize is kind of normal?
Or, maybe an explanation you may find a bit more suiting, Some children also make OCs. And, they sometime makes them really simple.
(Though, I believe it is in reality a combination of both. Some peopl emay like the aesthetic and may simply write a dumb story to go along with it because some people find it really funny.)M
