    @awl Indeed. Even that $30/hr. at the top of a scale (or at a union job) may not always mean much if one is getting 20-30 hours a week in a "slow" season. Some people I know at a certain place also said I was snubbed for a $25.00/hr. maintenance mechanic position because the "head engineer" was intimidated by my certifications and technical expertise.
