  1. The Steven Universe finale was garbage.

    • @scribus PROBABLY show's over? The episode resolved pretty much every hanging plot thread the show had (albeit in some cases a bit too quickly, the last five minutes especially seemed hella rushed) and the only thing SU-related on Cartoon Network's schedule as of now is the movie, which is getting released this fall. No sixth season renewal was announced. Pretty sure the show's done

    • @scribus The season also had a weird number of episodes. It's hard to count because this season had more specials and multi-parters than usual, but CN seems to consider every 11 minute segment an "episode" (meaning half-hour shows are two episodes, and the hour-long finale was four episodes), which leaves us at 32 episodes instead of the usual 26. The movie is likely being produced as if it were seven or eight separate episodes of the show, as the Regular Show movie was, so if you count that and add the fourth broadcast season, it'd bring us to 65 shows in the production season. There probably WAS a sixth season ordered, and instead they extended the fifth season and produced a movie (which is similar to what Regular Show did with its sixth season, it was supposed to be 40 episodes but it only ended up being 32 and the remaining 8 were used to make the movie).

      • Saw "Glass" yesterday. And, as my friend pointed out, it didn't really stick once I left the theater. I don't know why; it was actually really good. Terse atmosphere, well-acted, solid, steady pacing. Good story, well-told. Maybe it wrapped itself up a little too well. Maybe it was just too somber to want to stick around and play. !movies

            • So, I have a cousin who was present for the Las Vegas country festival shooting. She was with a friend who was in the Army, and they got out OK, but still - ever decreasing degrees of separation. And now, for the other side: this man worked at my dad's work until Tuesday. https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-citrus-college-lockdown-incident-20190115-story.html I wonder what the national average "distance from victim/perpetrator" is these days?

                • I’m in front of the Virginia Capitol, where the final ratification needed to make a US Consitutuinal amendment law MIGHT be passing later in the week? It’s pretty weird when history happens in your backyard.

                  • @mrmattimation I say “might” because although the state Senate voted to ratify 26-14 (to overwhelming cheers in the gallery), the House is 51-48 in the GOP’s favor and the Republican speaker is saying he’s just not gonna hold a vote. Through simple vote counting it’s pretty easy to deduce that they would have enough votes to pass it if the speaker would just bring the vote to the floor.

                  • @scribus Nah, equal rights amendment. (Removes distinctions between men and women in law, divorce, etc.) In theory I assumed it’d have bipartisan support because no distinctions means no “unfair” laws biased against men in, say, child support decisions. In practice, it’s a different story, I guess.

                  • I got into the habit of having multiple web browsers installed when I was dabbling in web design, and I still do it. And then, rather than have multiple windows of one browser when I need to see things all at once (instead of in tabs), I kind of arbitrarily pick one that I'm not currently using. And then, all of my cookies and settings are scattered to the digital winds... And that's to say nothing of my filesystem organization. 10 years of tax returns! . . . somewhere.

                            • @fluttershythetree Well, I was just thinking on how I miss the 80s and early 90s trend of making a kid-friendly version of or tie-in to a decidedly non-kiddie property. Like the Rambo cartoon, or Beetlejuice toys. I kind of wish they made a Breaking Bad Saturday morning cartoon, you know? Except, obviously, since we can't deal meth, he bakes cookies! And Jessie needs a new catchphrase....
