User interfaces like this that try to be all "relatable" in a cutesy, cultivated-marketing-identity manner really rub me the wrong way. I've taught ESL and I've studied other languages and this is really frickin' obnoxious for folks who aren't native speakers. Cut it out, tech companies.

This website was given as an example in an article about Design Conversion Mistakes - really really impressive what a bit of #design can do (like chasing away all potential customers): http://www.serene-naturist.com/ Have fun! :D

And just after I posted that, I stumbled over an article about iconic logos (or iconic icons, if you like): http://0.nul.lt/1PMS6Hf #design #logo

Logo (and connected house style) redesigns can be (and often are) trainwrecks, but here's one I really like: graphically intertesting and clever, with a reasoned link to the old one. #design #socialmedia http://0.nul.lt/1PMOx3G

#Fairphone and #Jolla announce deeper collaboration.
With Fairphone, Jolla shares a very active #community that values #transparency both in #hardware production and #software. Since autumn 2015 Jolla #developer community has been working to port #Sailfish OS to the Fairphone 2, the ethical #smartphone that uses #modular #design to increase the phone’s #longevity and #repairability. Following the progress of the community #porting, Jolla and Fairphone are now evaluating possibilities to enter into commercial collaboration based on common #values.
Olivier Hebert, Chief #Technology Officer at Fairphone comments:
“Making the Fairphone 2 hardware an open development platform has been one of our major ambitions from the start. This way, we can foster innovation into new mobile software technology and applications, while giving users the choice in the operating systems that they want to use. Sailfish OS is something that a large proportion of our … -

Nice rant here: "What Has Happened to All of the Web Design Ideas?" http://speckyboy.com/2015/09/03/what-has-happened-to-all-of-the-web-design-ideas/?ref=webdesignernews.com #web #design

I recently read through the 'Material Design' specification and was impressed - "Why so many people love Material Design?" https://medium.com/@mcristaldo/why-so-many-people-loves-material-design-6a60d31e597d?source=rss------design-5&ref=webdesignernews.com #web #ux #design

@lg@micro.fragdev.com I love your #rantings, please continue. Therefore extra here: the problem which made you !not run your own #statusnet anymore was not the #dataPortability bug in the first place (that's what the sheep need because they don't (want to, can't) run their own instances). I would relate the failure of SN more to: "A #design goal of #GNUSocial is that the basic Web functionality should work on even the most #restrictive commercial hosting services." (1) But @mmn is working on improving that too: somewhat #poorman (1) or search for: #opportunistic queue manager. installed both Font Manager and Fontmatrix for font management. The latter sounds functionally the most interesting, but its UI is extremely clunky and *incredibly* ugly - I'm not suer I gould get used to that #fonts #font.management #design
