  3. @coolboymew @mangeurdenuage The weirdest thing is that # in the early days was a hotbed of real discussions, despite not having any real conversational features built in. Over time, a combination of too-rapid growth and their changes to the site made it so that conversation is painful (and prone to attract angry extremists who flock into one's mentions and immediately mark the person as part of $OTHER_GROUP.

And that's where many of #'s angry extremists learned how to coordinate and attack, so they can be really brutal to the unprepared.

  4. # v.56.06 released with:

    1. Simplified nterface to add new account in #
You don't need to add "Social network" separately. Just type (host of) instance and proceed to Log in.

    2. Fixed "App language" switch. Many translation updates.

    3. Fixed Conversation view in #

  5. AndStatus v.55.01 Beta with "ActivityPub Client to Server improvements". Download from: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 1. This release was focused on supporting new and improved # features that appeared both in # and, surprisingly, in # also. You can really start experimenting with ActivityPub social network type if you have an account at Pleroma site with latest v.2.x Pleroma builds... Posting with image attachments works. 2. Mastodon (not AndStatus!) doesn't give you enough features to switch client connection to ActivityPub simply because Home timeline and posting via ActivityPub connection is not supported yet (corresponding pages give 404 Not found error). But you can see our own posts on Mastodon servers and navigate to other Actors and their post via them (you can see profiles of other Actors and see their posts...). You can even play with Mastodon as an "ActivityPub" type Social network in A

  6. @sl # version 3.x and later (and # version 2.x and later) does not use # as a federation protocol, so they broke federation with # There's a little more work to do before the release of GS v.2.0, which adds # support.

  10. @diogo Thank you for your explanation. Now I really see a page on the loadaverage site that tells its server version. And # still successfully connects to the server (I'm writing to you using it).
This means that the authentication problem that I reported is caused by a configuration of a concrete server, and not by the latest version of # :-)

Using a chance to talk with you, I hope that you will find time for Client-to-Server # API also. I'm extending support of that API in AndStatus, and already see that not only #, but even some # sites begin to implement some parts of the API, allowing a Client app to request information directly from its sources, without a need to duplicate it. E.g. Notes by an Actor may be requested from the Actor's profile (from the Actor's outbox) at his site, and not from the server, at which the User of the Client app has an account...

  11. Multiple attachments in # implemented in v.52.00, currently in Beta https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456
Showing multiple attachments in incoming notes should work for all Social networks.
But sending for now was implemented only for # (tested to work)
and for # # (needs fixes for image posting yet... see https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/issues/1171 ) https://gnusocial.no/attachment/1735455

  19. @guizzy It's the way all these things work. I've seen loads of resurrected threads on # and # as well as # when someone deletes their account. Their home instance sends out deletes for every individual post they ever made, which modifies the conversations those posts were part of.

  23. @lanodan It's OK for # and # to use in their UI "summary" property only. Especially taking into account that Mastodon actually doesn't have Title/Subject of a "toot" but "CW" only (Content Warning) that fits into semantics of #'s "summary" better than into "name".
Above decision shouldn't influence the "name" property, one of basic properties of # vocabulary.

Regarding current usage: Pump.io uses both "name" and "summary" properties since its creation in 2013, and they live together without problems.

  24. That Daily Dot article misses the main flaw of #: 15 columns and none of them present your timeline the way you want to see it. Like cable TV’s “hundreds of channels, but nothing to watch”.

Instead, it focuses on the dislikes of what was always a very small fraction of the userbase, as told by people who don’t even participate in this growing network anymore.

  26. @mararm As I said, those users on different instances are actually one user (e.g. you at loadaverage). They are copies of the same user. This User is local for loadaverage dot org and remote for all others.
Using local user IDs in server-to-client interactions instead of global WebfingerIds is a cause of such "multiplicity problem" and is current limitation of both GNU Social and, sadly, of # also. 27. Hey there social media hosting people and developers working on any of the #Fediverse systems!

Is there anyone of you at the Chaos Communication Congress in Leipzig this year right after Christmas? Is there anyone interested to have a meeting there?

Just some exchange, we would need some people to moderate the event, but basically some meetup to exchange information and get to know other players in the field.
"Someone" could then register a "talk" or "meetup" for the upcoming congress, I'd say a duration of about 1.5 to 2 hours and maybe 60+ people can be expected, assuming there is many #webmasters or #developers among the visitors at the #35C3.

Any #devs and #webmaster of the following systems, or any that I might have missed that are using #ActivityPup and can communicate with the others, please comment here if you like the idea!

  28. Tried # quickly, but I particularly didn't like it's # # design. As well as, that stuff can't be public (so it's not a publishing platform) and especially the fact, that they always require user to register to see ANY content. That's what I've so deeply hated with so many services. Even # has been doing that lately, and it's utterly enraging. # I've also checked out # and # again in detail, and well, there are just so many rough spots on these # # too. And no easy way of fixing those.
