  1. AndStatus v.55.01 Beta with "ActivityPub Client to Server improvements". Download from: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456 1. This release was focused on supporting new and improved # features that appeared both in # and, surprisingly, in # also. You can really start experimenting with ActivityPub social network type if you have an account at Pleroma site with latest v.2.x Pleroma builds... Posting with image attachments works. 2. Mastodon (not AndStatus!) doesn't give you enough features to switch client connection to ActivityPub simply because Home timeline and posting via ActivityPub connection is not supported yet (corresponding pages give 404 Not found error). But you can see our own posts on Mastodon servers and navigate to other Actors and their post via them (you can see profiles of other Actors and see their posts...). You can even play with Mastodon as an "ActivityPub" type Social network in A

  2. @sl # version 3.x and later (and # version 2.x and later) does not use # as a federation protocol, so they broke federation with # There's a little more work to do before the release of GS v.2.0, which adds # support.

  3. @diogo Thank you for your explanation. Now I really see a page on the loadaverage site that tells its server version. And # still successfully connects to the server (I'm writing to you using it).
This means that the authentication problem that I reported is caused by a configuration of a concrete server, and not by the latest version of # :-)

Using a chance to talk with you, I hope that you will find time for Client-to-Server # API also. I'm extending support of that API in AndStatus, and already see that not only #, but even some # sites begin to implement some parts of the API, allowing a Client app to request information directly from its sources, without a need to duplicate it. E.g. Notes by an Actor may be requested from the Actor's profile (from the Actor's outbox) at his site, and not from the server, at which the User of the Client app has an account...

  5. @coolboymew I heard recently that # doesn't work properly with Pleroma as with "Mastodon type" social network. Didn't investigate this...
But since last year # is adding # # (Client to Server) interface, and AndStatus has basic support for this type, checked and tested with Pleroma team! See https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/499

  6. Planning for expansion of Federati Networks (pending some changes in employment; the feast or famine nature of the present employment means either I have time or I have income, but never both).

I intend to add a # instance and a # instance. I was also thinking of adding a # instance, but now that it is no longer used by its main dev, that seems risky.

Assuming my "learn / relearn enough # / # to help improve # & Friendica" plan works, would patches to pA be accepted?

  10. @guizzy It's the way all these things work. I've seen loads of resurrected threads on # and # as well as # when someone deletes their account. Their home instance sends out deletes for every individual post they ever made, which modifies the conversations those posts were part of.

  12. @tom79 I think user's confusion is caused by widely advertised "# support", which in reality for almost all servers (except for #, as I know) means server to server communication only. Pleroma is the first Social Network that implemented at least minimal set of features, allowing ActivityPub Client applications to connect to it.

  13. @lanodan It's OK for # and # to use in their UI "summary" property only. Especially taking into account that Mastodon actually doesn't have Title/Subject of a "toot" but "CW" only (Content Warning) that fits into semantics of #'s "summary" better than into "name".
Above decision shouldn't influence the "name" property, one of basic properties of # vocabulary.

Regarding current usage: Pump.io uses both "name" and "summary" properties since its creation in 2013, and they live together without problems.

  15. Hey there social media hosting people and developers working on any of the #Fediverse systems!

Is there anyone of you at the Chaos Communication Congress in Leipzig this year right after Christmas? Is there anyone interested to have a meeting there?

Just some exchange, we would need some people to moderate the event, but basically some meetup to exchange information and get to know other players in the field.
"Someone" could then register a "talk" or "meetup" for the upcoming congress, I'd say a duration of about 1.5 to 2 hours and maybe 60+ people can be expected, assuming there is many #webmasters or #developers among the visitors at the #35C3.

Any #devs and #webmaster of the following systems, or any that I might have missed that are using #ActivityPup and can communicate with the others, please comment here if you like the idea!
    #Friendica #Diaspora #red #Hubzilla #GnuSocial #StatusNet #Mastodon #Pleroma #Socialhome #Ganggo

Let me know if you have any questions.

  17. hey all newcomers to who have set up instances and so on!

we're building pleroma together: us, and you!

we are few, and we just try to guide the project as best we can, writing code where we can.

but you folks have really stepped up over the past year, and a lot of the subsystems in pleroma have been designed and built by the greater community.

but everyone else should come join us too: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma

vote up the features and MRs you want to see!
    send us new MRs!
review MRs that are already there!

as previously said, we are few, and we try to guide the project based on *your* feedback. this is *your* project and *you* can help shape it how you want it to become.

  30. Onion based federation is now working with on . This means that it's now possible to follow users on "onion only" installs.

This type of federation is quite significant, because it means independence from the DNS and CA systems. It means that even if you don't control your local internet router or don't have money to spend on domain names you can still create a social network. It significantly reduces the complexity barrier to entry for running a home server.
