Also gives a good view how trivially easy it is to DDoS a website to it's knees, if it contains absolutely horrible and extremely bad recursive code. It's a good question why this trimming happens and view time and not when the data is being saved? Afaik, it's also a bad choice. Why to do same task several times, if doing it once is enough? - Laughable fail, but that happens. I've often mentioned that many programmers don't have a clue what their code actually does. It just works. This should be one of the classic examples.

@andresinmp thanks! I'm happily going through Darktable right now and looking up documentations and tutorials: I'm finding it can actually do a *lot* more than I thought it could. Trying to figure out why Darktable will no longer start, I started it from the command line and get: "darktable: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcolordprivate.so.2: undefined symbol: cmsGetContextUserData". Everything's installed, up to date - for Debian: it's actually quite a bit behind. I'm really really handicapped without Darktable - so I guess I'll have to go back to installing from source. :( It's not as though I have plenty of time for that... better get some sleep first though. good night (etc.) !tzaf !fediverse !fediverso !photography #software

I just discovered #Agave - a little application to construct color schemes; it also comes with an eyedropper tool (which can be used to pick any pixel on the screen as 'base color'). Handy for web design! Available in !Debian repo, so installation took 6 keystrokes and two clicks :) #software #graphics

gradually finding out which graphics program is good for which types of processing - I wish there was one that could do it all, but there isn't - I need 4 programs to best / most efficiently do what I need to do (as in: efficiently saving to a smaller-size JPG is no good is that also discards embedded IPTC data... - which may be a bug but is annoying at least) #photography #editing #software
