  1. @bronymike !vancouverbronies I do know at least one person who wants to come but absolutely refuses to sign up for Facebook, whereas the survey requires no registration.

  2. @bronymike !vancouverbronies Well, I put up the SurveyMonkey thing which is really basic and it's got 11 responses so far. What do you want to go with? You had expressed concerns about using Facebook for it and I had my own concerns, so I set that up.

  3. @mcbrony @bronymike !vancouverbronies I don't see that we really need one (this works fine, generally), and I think it makes more sense to have one go-to place for group stuff, rather than fragment our presence across multiple sites. Also, I despise Facebook and try to use it as little as humanly possible, but that's just me. :)

  4. @spectrumflash !vancouverbronies It's the reality of the situation, unfortunately.

  6. !vancouverbronies With those things in mind I created a real quick SurveyMonkey survey for people to indicate if they're coming: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FFWVZ9Z

  7. @fang8989 @bronymike !vancouverbronies Yeah, my other concerns about Facebook would be a) I wouldn't want people to have to sign up for it just to RSVP and b) the very fact that it will get plenty of people's attention, and I don't think we want the attendance numbers to get out of hand.

  8. @bronymike !vancouverbronies I think we've already got the down payment covered. But yes, we need a projector or television and an internet connection.

  9. !vancouverbronies I certainly wouldn't be averse to it being in the evening after the Fan Expo stuff. I'm supposed to have an RPG session in the afternoon that I'll skip if necessary (I'd rather have to skip it than miss this), but if I didn't have to that would also be cool. But whatever works for more people, of course.

  10. !vancouverbronies So where is this happening? I'm happy to contribute money. Is there some way I can do that without having to coordinate meeting somebody, i.e., PayPal or the like?

  11. @thepuzzldpirate !vancouverbronies I was looking at VPL - the smaller rooms (~60 people) are about $200 for 4 hours and it would be another $50 for a TV (doesn't say how big): http://www.vpl.ca/rooms/pdf/2012_LSCCrates.pdf

  12. @thepuzzldpirate !vancouverbronies Hmm. We need a place that can accommodate a fair number of people with a reasonably large TV that we can plug a laptop or whatever into. Anyone?

  13. @mcbrony !vancouverbronies I was about to point that out as well - noticed it on Twitter.

  15. @pancakebrony !vancouverbronies There are regular meetups every Saturday at 1 PM at Bamboo Cafe across from Joyce Station.

  16. @jackzhang !vancouverbronies I like that idea, as long as everyone can keep quiet for long enough for those who haven't seen it to enjoy the episode.

  23. !vancouverbronies Thought I'd throw this back up here since it appears it got lost - I had a good chat with @jdan yesterday about the brony group and the brony phenomenon in general, and he's still looking for people to talk with for the article he's writing. If you're interested, just drop him a line here.

  25. !vancouverbronies Someone was saying they wanted Applejack from the current McDonald's toys - she's one of the ones that's in the restaurants right now. Picked one up on the way home.

  26. @arctempest !vancouverbronies I guess my big question is whether people would come from so far afield for a one-day "big meet" type of event without some really clear draw.

Friday, 09-Mar-12 16:44:06 UTC from web in context
  27. @arctempest !vancouverbronies Well, @bronymike and I were discussing such a thing with @afancorp there for a bit but it hasn't been brought up again in many months. A con is a pretty serious logistical exercise, though. Bigger meetups would be easier, I agree. And yeah, we know all about outdoor meetups and weather patterns...

  28. !vancouverbronies Doesn't look like the story's in the physical issue yet. I assume it'll be in the one that comes out tomorrow.

  30. !vancouverbronies So someone at work wrote 'Recipe for Awesome' on the whiteboard in the kitchen and people were writing down ingredients. I wrote "friendship" and when I looked at it today someone else had added "and magic".
