Why is it that at night my wifi keeps cutting out and I end up on celluar data, but during the day it stays connected consistently? (At least my phone) !techponies
-
@leonkfox Well, have had quite a lot on, and have been overwhelmingly tired into the bargain. Feelin' considerably better today though! What you been up to?
-
@pawnheart Not a great deal to be honest, heh. Been kinda getting some "post meet up blues" as I had so much fun that day ,but watching the video usually helps, even if one clip is out of order, and said clip is the wrong way around.
-
@leonkfox Yeah... I know what you mean! Didn't realise how much adrenaline I'd built up before-hand, and I kinda sagged for a few days.

How the hell do things get to be "standards" when nobody adheres to them!? D: !techponies #firstworldproblems

!techponies Still can't get Puredyne GNU/Linux to work for me. Tried switching USB drives, tried installing via virtual machine, tried burning DVDs, tried 32- and 64-bit architectures. No luck. Tried editing the GRUB configs, nothing. Tried threats, bribes, and casual indifference. Nothing. Between this and LXDE being buggy, I'm about to just use Ubuntu Studio - even though they dropped the real-time kernel.

Eugh, one of the clips for the vlog needs to be rotated, trying to figure out how to do this in AVS Video Editior now. !techponies !midlandsbronies

Tried getting keygens for several of them (I am not buying expensive ish software just to use it once0 hoping I'll get some luck eventually !techponies
Saturday, 17-Sep-11 22:57:52 UTC from web-
@leonkfox Prism?
-
@redenchilada I'll look into it if I get no luck with my latest keygen attempt ^^ Thanks.

Why must ever HD video converter have a paid for version and the free versions either put a watermark on the video or only convert a few minutes of it :/ !techponies
Saturday, 17-Sep-11 22:56:34 UTC from web -
Alright, help needed ASAP, what video editing software can take 3GPP files, or what is a good HD video converter? Need it for the vlog. !techponies
Saturday, 17-Sep-11 22:23:39 UTC from web-
@leonkfox I convert files with Prism Video File Converter. Assuming you just need an AVI, it'll work well.
-
@redenchilada AVI's should be just fine :)
-
-
Anyone know a good, free Wiki site? !techponies
Saturday, 17-Sep-11 17:59:31 UTC from web-
@redenchilada Seems widely used anyway.

@scribus Wikia is terrible when it comes to ads.
-
@thelastgherkin Ah. Bogus, then. Maybe I should take off my ad blocker now and then... See how the other half lives.

To any other users of the Trillian Android app, does anyone else find it refuses to work when connected to mobile internet? !techponies !androidbronies
-
@derpytails Thanks :)
-
@leonkfox I can connect fine on my Trillian (using crappy 1x mode :P)
-
@derpytails What the hell..it refuses to send and recieve messages on celluar data for me!

Apple filing lawsuits against Samsung in France...should this even make the news anymore? Seriously, Apple's attempts to stop their competition (the Galaxy SII is the phone they seem to target specifically) are starting to leave a rather foul taste in my mouth =/ !techponies
-
@lilytheamazingfaintingpony They're magical and revolutionary!
-
@lilytheamazingfaintingpony What you said, pretty much what I was gonna say, heh.
-
@leonkfox By Norwegian law that means I now owe you one fridge-cold cola. #WeirdNorwegianTraditions

!techponies - Trying Puredyne in a virtual machine now. Getting everso sick and damn tired of this not working. And, go or no go, I think I'll take a nap after this. Only really got about an hour (if I'm optimistic) before work last night.
Wednesday, 14-Sep-11 11:50:29 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark Yeah, I md5sum'd it - it is working under Virtualbox, but now I can't get Vbox to access USB. =/ Anyway, progress is being made (it seems).
-
@scribus You need to install the guest additions for USB passthrough to work under linux, I think.
-
@ceruleanspark Seems that way. I'll do it later, at least I know I'm on the right path now.
-
-
!techponies - Taking *yet another* stab at this Puredyne Linux thing, this time doing it manually with UNetbootin.
Tuesday, 13-Sep-11 21:29:30 UTC from web -
!techponies - Take three with Puredyne. This is getting old.
Monday, 12-Sep-11 16:25:15 UTC from web -
!techponies - Taking a second stab at Puredyne GNU/Linux. This time, the i386 DVD rather than the amd64 DVD. Here's hoping. #speakgeek
Monday, 12-Sep-11 15:16:27 UTC from web- delete_ likes this.
-
!techponies - My first attempt with Puredyne GNU/Linux on a USB drive has failed. Claims I "need to load the kernel first," which I kinda know and am not sure why it's not doing that. Anyway, I'll try again maybe tomorrow. I totally desire a multimedia distro, but I don't see needing it all day every day.
Monday, 12-Sep-11 05:09:43 UTC from web -
!techponies - I'm not thoroughly pleased with Lubuntu / LXDE. It's alright, but quirky. Next up, Ubuntu Studio (and with that, back to Gnome2). Then, some kernel jiggery-pokery.

(I'll have my phone and iPad with me if anypony has a great and powerful flash of inspiration)
Saturday, 10-Sep-11 14:04:37 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark But won't a "flash" if inspiration be a bit useless with an iOS device? :P *shot* #BadJoke !techponies

With the help of my mum the ethernet cable is now in my PC again, so I can use the internet as normal ^^ Also using StatusNet Desktop, so yay for refreshing! !techponies
- Cloud Kicker likes this.

...You have got to be kidding me. We get the Phillips Windows 7 PC (again, XP machine originally, it's not new) set up...and it says there's no internet connection >< It can't be the router or connection in general since my phone and Xbox 360 are connected just fine ,it's got to be the bloody ethernet at the back. Why oh WHY must it be so hard to access the back of my PC in this room? -__- !techponies
-
@leonkfox because the prettyness of your gaming setup is measured in blood, sweat, hardships and money... especially money... unless if you made your own desk... then its especially blood :o :D
-
@critialcloudkicker I don't use this PC for gaming at all, so it isn't really part of my "gaming" set up per say :P (even if it is right by said set up)
-
@leonkfox can you game at your "station" ... motion defeated... oversimplification FTW :D
-
-
Mum and I are now setting up the old Phillips Windows 7 PC (originally had XP on it) since the Advent one with Vista busted still. !techponies
-
@leonkfox Never had any real problems with the 100+ Dell machines I've deployed and serviced at my various jobs. But everywhere I go online, I see people saying they've had trouble. Do I live in some highly improbable vortex of well built Dell hardware?
-
@ceruleanspark You must do, considering everyone I know also hates Dell hardware and has had a problem with it at some point or another XD
-
@ceruleanspark Nah, I do well enough with Dell. It could be better, I won't deny, but it's treating me well enough.

Getting pretty worried and even a little frustrated round about now, our router was totally buggered so a fay or two ago my mum bought a new one for 30 quid, it was easy as hell to set up (especially when compared to previous routers we've had over the years) and was wrking great, but all of a sudden it's started cutting out: / Hope it's not a sign of things to come, I mean I do have mobile internet to fall back on, but the wifi is so much faster and we need it for devices like the laptop. I'm gonna head to bed for nowthough, hope the wifi is working better in the morning, especially since that router is only a day or 2 old. Anyways, G'night world! ^^ !techponies
-
@mrn4rmn4rm Thanks ^^ And so do I.
-
-
Decided to be hopeful and try turning on the Advent Windows Vista desktop...and still nothing. Will not go past the "Advent" boot up screen. !techponies
-
Well, isn't this a treat? The router has been replaced and is in full working order ,but the bloody PC I switched to recently is buggered =/ It's not even neccesarily because it has Vista on it, the damn thing just doesn't go past the screen that says "Advent" (the company that manufactuered it) Looks like I'm gonna have to go back to that old Windows 7 machine. (The software is newer, the hardware however is another story) Setting it up will also be a cherries within the constraints of my room =/ !techponies
-
@leonkfox darn. well I would love to give you a computer a friend gave me but I don't think it works so I wouldn't want to give you a broken computer
-
@thecupcakinator Well, the thought is appreciated all the same ^^
-
@leonkfox yay
-
-
My dad is such a technophobe, hehe. Had to type out a text for him on his phone, with a resistive touch screen too, was not fun :P !techponies
-
Works brilliantly ^^ Mum says it was easy to set up, not like previous routers we've had! It's a Belkin F7D 1301uk N150, highly reccomended! !techponies
-
@leonkfox And here I am with a simple BTHub 2.5...!techponies
-
-
I swear to Celestia, you can't look through the comments section of a video related to an Android, BlackBerry, Web OS etc phone without seeing at least a few "HURM DURR iPHONE IS BETTER" or "iPHONE 5 WILL BEAT DIS CRAPPY PHONE" there's preferring Apple, and then there's being one of the many blind fanboys the company is known for having a lot of. -_- !techponies
Saturday, 03-Sep-11 23:25:17 UTC from web-
@leonkfox The specific issues I have with Android fanboys, are A) They keep telling me I'm stupid. B) They're convinced they're fighting some kind of holy war. It's not a political statement! It's a cellphone!
-
@ceruleanspark Lol thats very true, I love the android but not enough that I would go THAT far.
-
@ceruleanspark Well, I wasn't condoning that, but by the same token I'm not going to condone an Apple fanboy doing the same thing, even if I do hate Apple as a company. I do like one of their products (the iPod Touch) but sheer principal makes it hard for me to hand over my money for it =/

-
There are a lot of desktop chassis screws here. Considering that I do not own a desktop, this is a matter of some concern.
Saturday, 03-Sep-11 11:43:05 UTC from web-
@leonkfox I gave my old desktop away to a less well off friend of the family. I still have 2 netbooks, two laptops and an iPad on my desk though.
-
@ceruleanspark 2 laptops,2 netbooks, a tablet (Tisk tisk :P) but no desktop? I take it you aren't into PC gaming? Heh.
-
@leonkfox I've never been a hardcore PC gamer. My Macbook has sufficient power to run any of the more interesting indie PC titles that catch my fancy, but none of the mainstream "Better on PC" titles ever really appeal to me.

"1.81 TB free of 1.81 TB" Behold: SPACE!
Saturday, 03-Sep-11 11:14:37 UTC from web-
@ceruleanspark Sweet! What size was it upgraded from, 40gb? (sorry for how overtly curious I am)
-
@leonkfox Yeah, it was a 40gb one. You can buy little cases for laptop drives that turn them into USB hard disks, so I did that with the old one.
-
@ceruleanspark I miss my PS3...it was one of the discontinued 60gb ones (which I never once filled up)
-
-
The replacement battery my mother bought for this laptop has the single worst capacity of any laptop battery I have ever seen. !techponies
Saturday, 03-Sep-11 02:51:39 UTC from web-
@scribus Let's just put it this way, it makes the battery it came with (that fried 6 months after purchase) had a bigger capacity #AndThatsSayingSomething
-
@leonkfox Brutal.
-
@scribus I don't even think the bloody thing lasts me an hour! I may take it out and see what its capacity is, out of morbid curiosity.
-
-
Alright !techponies, reccomend some good 7" Android tablets to me, please? :)
