I used probably the worst head-mounted display in existence. It's a hand-made HMD with eye tracking. The optics (two simple lenses) are so bad that after 40 minutes using it I had the worst eye problems imaginable. I couldn't see properly for over an hour. I saw everything double and my eyes were aching a lot. At least I get 20€ for this experiment torture.

same thing happened wit Blu-Ray readers and overlock stitching
it's expensive cuz it's new, the components themselves aren't very hard to make, it's just that many people/companies don't do them yet -
@zennx unless you live in brazil, in this case the price will only go higher and higher

@zennx I was told that the current professional-grade eye-tracking system for HMD devices costs 15000€. A price the computer graphics department is hesitant to pay for.

@zennx In my humble opinion the VR games are all very simple because there are huge problems that don't have a solution yet. The Vive has "room scale" tracking and it works great BUT only within the tracked space. There is only so much to do within a 3x3 meters area. Someone just asked me if he should buy this "PXP 3 slimstation" off this Dutch super-savers site. So I looked at the site together with him, this was embedded https://youtu.be/MpDzIubTn6c , since it is a Portuguese Youtube embedded on a Dutch site, and all the games look like they come from SEGA Megadrive/Genesis. I laughed at him, He didn't understand. Though I guess that most people who read this on RDN would agree that it looks uncomfortable and about as legal as putting homebrew on a CFW Sony Playstation Portable ( PSP ). It even looks like one.

@zennx Well, if Morpheus would prophecize me to be the one I would only believe him to take me into high regard, but if the Oracle would flatout tell me I am the one I would start to live my life like I am the one. What I am saying with this is that a prophet needs to be smart about what he or she says, conveys, leaks, and more specifically does not do. @adiwan Even if it is a magic curse, there would be some way to get around it. Maybe the person in that story wasn't prophecising hard enough about what he/she should do him/her-self
