@narwhal I'm tempted to stream myself playing New Game+ if I get time, if I do I'll elaborate on it then. It's got some frustrating design issues, but what does work is really good.

@scoot It'd be neat to watch a stream of it as while I can't afford it at the moment I'm definitely very interested in it. Its visual design alone looks excellent.

@scoot It's an emotionally exhausting show. I'd like to rewatch it again sometime as a handful of people I know have been watching it lately, but I'd really need to psyche myself up for it.

@scoot When I first watched it I was a kid and it really flew over my head, but then I watched it again late into high school when I was going through a really rough patch and everything just kinda clicked emotionally for me with it. These past few months have been awfully tiring and draining on me, both emotionally and physically, and though I've been trying to hide it people who know me well offline have all expressed concern with behaviours they've noticed me exhibiting. NGE ultimately draws optimistic conclusions to its themes though, so watching through it could end up being the catharsis I need. I dunno.

@spots It has some of the best character writing I've seen in the medium as a whole, I think what makes it so powerfully intense is that beneath its veneers of post-apocalyptic sci-fi storytelling it also understands people and the affects of mental illness on them really, really well. Pretty much everyone in Neon Genesis Evangelion is broken in some capacity and it really emphasizes the fragility but also perseverance of the human condition. It's an incredible thing to experience.

For a while Pokemon X was my most played game on my 3DS but I think Fire Emblem Fates as a whole has broken that record.

I went to get my hair cut and returned to find that the entire house smelled strongly of burning. Apparently my sister burned an entire plate (and melted the plate itself) of pizza rolls by putting them in the microwave for 10 minutes, whoops.

@spots I woke up to find an old roommate had done that, just hit an extra zero and went outside to make a phone call unawares. Nothing like waking up to the smell of smoke in the middle of the night, and later realizing that I woke up from the smell of smoke and not the sound of a fire alarm.

@scoot I can relate to this from a DAW perspective. There are days where I'm stuck in a creative rut in Reason but can demo tons of songs in one sitting in Logic, and vice versa. I think the specific advantages and shortcomings of certain programs can facilitate or hinder creative use of those programs at given times.

@narwhal Huh, so it is a real problem then. I've never experienced it before. Unfortunately I started off fine in SAI and then got art block there too.

@scoot I think sometimes it's the program and sometimes you're just creatively blocked regardless, so you could just be stuck in general at the moment, in which case a break might help as you'll give yourself the chance to be inspired by something.

@scoot I dunno if you're anything like me, but when I'm nearing the end of an animation I suddenly get this huge burst of energy and animate a lot all at once. I actually animated the last ~30 seconds of tomorrow's upload on one day despite my usual slowness and got all of the editing done the day after. So maybe the same'll happen with you?

@mrmattimation Opposite, I animated the first half very quickly and then got exhausted and ended up taking 2 weeks off by accident. I'm hoping I'll get some sort of adrenaline/panic boost soon.

Although JK Simmons as the mayor is very recognizably JK Simmons as the mayor, so replacing that role would be incredibly difficult.

@scribus I dunno if I'd enjoy it in long form but a buddy cop series with Nick and Judy that expanded on the thematic conclusions of the original film sounds like a pretty fun time
