@awl I've never had panniers with that bungee thing at the bottom. I've always used the Ortlieb ones since I ride in bad weather a lot, and full waterproofing has been my primary concern.
Seems like they'd be less likely to bounce off the lower part of the rack. -

@awl Oddly enough, I didn't sleep any longer after Saturday's ride (the one a week after that blog post's ride) than I would've on a normal day (with or without melatonin), even though I was definitely tired.

I've done a couple of rides along the highway out there, and am pretty excited to see an alternate route like that go in. I've always enjoyed gravel rail trails, even more than the asphalt ones most of the time. -

I can't be bothered to finish. The punchline to that one is so clearly signposted that it's one of the few man-made landmarks visible from space. -

@awl It's working pretty well for me so far, as long as I keep my salt levels up. If I'm feeling really drowsy despite having slept and eaten enough that day, a saltpill always fixes it.
