  1. Can we please stop with the banning and deleting of people? This is childish and not something I want to see within our brony community

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:42:02 UTC from web
    1. @macpony55 Don't tell us how to do our jobs.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:42:37 UTC from web
      1. @redenchilada I need to be able to DM you...

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:43:37 UTC from web
        1. @colfax Subscribed now. At least, I think I am.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:47:36 UTC from web
      2. @redenchilada Not to intrude, but that reaction seems a bit knee-jerk to a valid concern... >.>

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:44:03 UTC from web
      3. @redenchilada @macpony55 @greatandpowerfuleaglehooves @colfax If y'all don't mind me asking, could I get the tl;dr on what the problem is?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:46:43 UTC from web
        1. @forestrain Greydragon left in a not-so-polite way awhile ago and stated he was never coming back... and that's about all I know.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:48:40 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
        2. @forestrain Yeah, apparently asking him to not abuse the color code thing made us all nazis or somesuch and he lost his mind.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:48:53 UTC from web
        3. @forestrain it's mostly just a display of power between people on here that seems to be having a very negative impact on the entire site right now

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:50:06 UTC from web
          1. @macpony55 No, it's one person who got banned deciding to cause drama.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:50:38 UTC from web
            1. @redenchilada Oddly enough it was causing drama that helped get him dropped in the first place.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:51:26 UTC from web
            2. @redenchilada It's take two, it would be less dramatic if you would just let him talk

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:51:50 UTC from web
              1. @macpony55 He can talk with any of us through email. He's doing it here to try to get others on his side. Classic attention whoring.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:52:57 UTC from web
                1. @redenchilada He had no trouble running to @mrdragon, but didn't like it when he was told to talk to me, since he couldn't be bothered neither can I.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:54:34 UTC from web
                2. @redenchilada You mods are on your side, why not give the users a side too, let us decide for ourselves instead of just assuming you know what's best? RDN is a community and we all should have an equal say, it's not limited to just the mods

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:54:44 UTC from web
          2. @macpony55 @greatandpowerfuleaglehooves @colfax So everyone is upset because of that. Are people blaming it on someone in particular? Or is it just an air of negativity at the moment?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:50:57 UTC from web
    2. @greyscale My e-mail is on the admin page, always has been, you could have used that instead of acting like a whiny little mangoes.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:45:28 UTC from web
    3. @chipperlunaro That's not what "banned" means, though.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:52:10 UTC from web
    4. @chipperlunaro Unfortunately the power to do that is very limited right now

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:52:34 UTC from web
    5. @chipperlunaro I agree with that. Let them stay, start anew. If they buck up again IP ban them and delete their account.

      1. @minti Everytime I see that avatar, all I see is a giant pony brushing a planet I AM SO SORRY.

            1. @redenchilada lolol.. Wait. Why is there no Colgate fanclub?!

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:55:58 UTC from web
            2. @redenchilada I took a quick look in the history re: abusing color codes. You referenced a rule -- are these rules posted somewhere prominent? I scimmed the TOS but didn't see anything regarding abusing codes/colors/etc...

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:58:37 UTC from web
              1. @forestrain ...Have you looked at the top of the page?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:59:12 UTC from web
                1. @redenchilada Ah, cool. It blended in. ;p

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:59:51 UTC from web
                2. @redenchilada I see... it looks like that rule is referring more to repeated posts, calls for attention, etc. The rule itself doesn't contain anything regarding repeated color codes or hashtags or anything of the sort being included with genuine dashes... It doesn't look like he violated rule 4... however in his last post, he did violate rule 3, and is currently violating 5...

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:03:36 UTC from web
                  1. @forestrain "This includes (but is not limited to)"

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:04:55 UTC from web
              2. @forestrain Yep, rules are linked at the page top.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:59:39 UTC from web
              3. @forestrain There's a "rules" link at the top of the page..

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:59:47 UTC from web
          2. @minti Better keep that planet clean!

                1. @hugs hello

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:00:17 UTC from web
    6. @chipperlunaro I don't have any clout. I'd give him a second shot, but I can't make that call and don't have any favors with the mods.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:55:14 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    7. @chipperlunaro Look at it carefully it is!

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 00:57:43 UTC from web
    8. @chipperlunaro @redenchilada Chipper has a perfectly good point, if you guys would just leave the account alone, this wouldn't even be a problem right now

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:00:04 UTC from web
      1. @macpony55 You're missing the point. He's rejoining solely to complain. If he really wanted in, he'd at least make an EFFORT to cooperate with us.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:01:23 UTC from web
        1. @redenchilada I'm being deleted before I can!

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:01:47 UTC from web
          1. @another1 There are avenues for seeking redress, by talking to the admins via e-mail. Show a bit of good-faith with the tools provided, and things might turn out different.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:03:25 UTC from web
        2. @redenchilada He's trying, you guys keep deleting him before you can even start a good conversation

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:02:29 UTC from web
          1. @macpony55 He's being deleted for creating new accounts to get around a ban, which is in no way helping his case any.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:03:14 UTC from web
          2. @macpony55 He's not cooperating, though!

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:04:04 UTC from web
            1. @redenchilada Neither are you guys, each side has been making their points very clear but are being ignored or prevented from actually getting anywhere

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:05:17 UTC from web
              1. @macpony55 We're giving him alternate means with which to discuss the matter with us. How moderators handle things is not up to the users to decide.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:06:27 UTC from web
                1. @redenchilada While that is entirely true, it also seems to be elevating the problem.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:07:20 UTC from web
                2. @redenchilada As I have already said, this is a community, the users use the site more than the mods, thus they should be given at least a little credit for knowing what is best

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:08:15 UTC from web
                  1. @macpony55 Not in all cases... if that were rule-of-law, the Court of Public Opinion would basically be able to be leveraged by people appealing a potentially justified ban. It's up to the admins to set acceptable policy and to enforce it when needed, to avoid that sort of scenario that can possibly upend a site like RDN.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:10:07 UTC from web
                    1. @chiefanchor I usually agree, but this is one of those instances where I think the general public have every right to be involved

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:11:25 UTC from web
          3. @macpony55 While I do agree with MacPony here, I would also like to point out that free, easy-to-setup email accounts -are- available, and according to the rules, greydragon should contact an admin to arrange a civil discussion...

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:05:01 UTC from web
            1. @forestrain He is trying to contact admins but they keep deleting him, even if it isn't in the right way of contact, I see the mods at just as much fault as he is

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:06:17 UTC from web
    9. @chipperlunaro I don't think the pony in question was allowing it to be discussed in private. Admins' hooves were forced.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:13:06 UTC from web
    10. @chipperlunaro I'm not arguing, I'm just trying to enjoy my chicken francaise in peace.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:13:35 UTC from web
    11. @chipperlunaro We've given him plenty of opportunities and plenty of methods to do so. The fact that he won't take us up on our offer is not something we can change.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:13:44 UTC from web
    12. @chipperlunaro I try not to argue so much as try to help others see other ponies point of view... I apologize if it seems like I'm arguing. <_>

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:14:37 UTC from web
    13. @chipperlunaro You know, I'd -love- to be able to do that... it's really too bad statusnet sucks so hard.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:18:25 UTC from web
      1. @colfax System limitations can be a real pain in the flank, can't they?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:18:57 UTC from web
        1. @chiefanchor Maybe if somepony could bring one of the 16-inchers to bear...

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:20:04 UTC from web
          1. @colfax 16-inchers? Why stop there? # are prepped :D

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:20:52 UTC from web
            1. @chiefanchor As much fun as VLSs are I still like those big guns when they rock & roll.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:22:55 UTC from web
              1. @colfax Nothing quite like 'em, I'll agree.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:23:42 UTC from web
      2. @colfax If we had someone around with server access (*cough hey ponydude have you sent purpletinker that application yet cough*) they could probably just block his IP from the server.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:20:45 UTC from web
        1. @redenchilada StatusNet has no IP block functionality? The hay?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:21:23 UTC from web
        2. @redenchilada Not very useful if he's using a dynamic address (DHCP-assigned). If a MAC address or a more solid hostname can be pinned to him, it's more likely to work.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:22:22 UTC from web
          1. @chiefanchor Can't block MAC address over the net, the web browser doesn't send those. Even if you did it's easy to get software to spoof it.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:23:34 UTC from web
            1. @minti Then hostnames appear to be the only way to go, and even that's hit-or-miss. #

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:24:37 UTC from web
    14. @chipperlunaro you there

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:18:46 UTC from web
    15. @ponydude So you can re-apply with the same e-mail as soon as you're deleted?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:22:57 UTC from StatusNet Desktop
    16. @ponydude Oh wow, THAT sounds like a problem.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:24:40 UTC from web
    17. @ponydude Any idea of where the point-of-failure *might* be?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:27:01 UTC from web
    18. @ponydude I'm guessing it's because the user is silenced until they verify or something?

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:27:56 UTC from web
    19. @ponydude This whole conversation has reminded me -- I recently converted my email to my derpmail account, but it doesn't seem to be sending out the confirmations. >.>

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:29:59 UTC from web
      1. @forestrain Most people seem to have that issue when they change emails, apparently. You'll probably need to ask @purpletinker about it, though.

Wednesday, 25-Jan-12 01:30:56 UTC from web
