@pony For the record, if you have RDN friends, and you exhibit causes for concern, allow said friends to offer help. If something's really wrong the last thing you should be worried about is whether or not your view your problems to be burdensome. Apples and muffins, I'm talking like a #DearCelestia letter right now! But you know what I mean.

@crusader8 Almost anytime I'm online, I'm in lurk mode at RDN as well. Even if it takes a while I get almost every dash sent to me. You're a true friend! I'm really happy to have you and others like you ( @chiefanchor ). I'm having a hard time coping with some relationship issues right now on top of feeling a bit discouraged and anxious about school. Lately I've been thinking a lot about how I'd love to have a kid, and the fact that my wife isn't able to get pregnant has got me (us) more depressed. The way my wife has been treating me lately are triggering some thoughts of how it would be nice not to live. I'm not suicidal at all, just very despondent right now. It usually passes in a matter of hours, but waiting it out is difficult alone.

@pony that is sad, but on the brightside you at least have a wife. That's a lot more than I could say.

@gingersnap yes that's true. I wouldn't give her up for anything. When I ask her if she'd marry me again knowing what she knows now, she says no flatly. Part of me both anticipates her answer and understands that she doesn't realize how hurtful it is so I I don't get upset, and instead I tell her half-teasingly that she didn't give the right answer. I know that she's in even more pain than I am emotionally for many reasons and I try to support her, but it's not easy. Of course the things in life worth having aren't meant to be easy.

@pony 1. I have no useful advice for school since my perspective on it is so drastically different from the average human being. 2. The hardest thing may be to have a serious talk with your wife and to let her know what she is doing that is counterproductive to the two of you working through yours and her challenges. As long as it doesn't turn into a who-has-it-worse contest you can express how you feel and how the two of you can better communicate one's needs to the other. I would carefully shed light on how what you act like and how she behaves are both directly influenced by several stresses, some shared and others external (like school), and these factors shouldn't influence the health of how you communicate. I'm not sure how much that advice will help, but I am the kind of person that always confronts the heart of the issue and I never beat around the bush.

@crusader8 Thank you for your thoughtful advice. :) A big part of the issue is that she and I approach conflict very differently. She comes from a home where healthy communication didn't exist so she actively avoids conflict and becomes enraged when forced for whatever reason to confront it. We see a therapist and he helps. It's just been a while since we had an appointment, and that's my fault. I wish we were more independent, but professional help is sometimes necessary and, while I'll gladly take it, Ii feel torn about /needing/ it.

@pony You're already getting outside professional help? Then you already know probably anything I'd say then. I'm afraid I'm deep but not profound.

@crusader8 It means more to me to have friends I can count on to listen and respond to me in my more difficult moments than it does to have professional help. I'm well read and educated on the most important factors affecting marital satisfaction, but that's not enough.

@pony thought you said martial satisfaction for a moment #sleepy a good sign I need to hit the hay and dream ponies. Hope everything turns out for the better! I'm just surprised you were going to log off a social site comprised of people who live, eat and sleep a show about lessons in friendship to go elsewhere for solace. Hopefully the humor in your notice I refer to will add another color to the rainbow we're trying to build for you here to guide you to the answers you need.
