@bulletst0rm Tell them that you like cartoons and one of your favorite writers made a new version of My Little Pony that is actually pretty awesome and you like to watch it. Then own the situation because who cares.

@bulletst0rm That depends. Do your parents make ridiculous assumptions about one's sexuality/whatever based on superficial things, or do you suspect they might do so? If yes, test the waters by asking them what they think of "this brony fad you've heard about". If not, or if they respond positively, just treat it like you'd treat being a fan of any other show and geek out over it in a way that lets them know without making a big scene of it like it's something wrong.

@bulletst0rm I usually just tell people, including my family, that I like things as the opportunity arises. I think it's best to treat it like something non-consequential, not make any big deal of it, since it really isn't any big deal
