@bobthecheesegal Well, people are gonna insult you, and that's something you'll have to deal with, and I'm gonna be frank, dealing with it isn't easy at first. At the end of the day you have to remember that they're just words, and while they can hurt, they can be overcome as well. And don't rise to it. If somebody's being a dick and in response you act like a dick, then you're no better than them. The key is learning to ignore it.

Have you taken the time to explain to him why what he's saying upsets you? I'm trusting he's not a total asshole, and if you can help him understand what he's doing to hurt you and agrees to work on it, then great! I (think) he's using self-pity to control you. If he's always upsetting you and then he turns around and makes himself the victim, that's not entirely healthy.
