I'll never forget when somebody did a survey on why people were watching MLP and the overwhelming majority answered "because I'm sad and it makes me feel better". I wonder what the answer would be today.

@clayinthecarpet If that's the case, the audience has shifted tremendously from where it used to be and explains to me why I preferred things as they were. People before were watching it because it helped them, but now they watch because "SCREW SOCIETY! My opinion on the show is objective!>:0" apparently.

@scoot In certain circles, that does happen. I generally try to avoid those and just consume good fandom material. Support artists, watch the show, have non-hateful conversation about how awesome I think it is, and avoid all the spaghetti. I hear I'm in a minority, though, judging by these arguments I see online. Goddamn those arguments dole me off. I met a few of those people in person at EQG when it aired at my local theater...They were arguing about show aspects, which episodes were best and which characters were best...ARGUING, not debating playfully. Man, I distance myself from all that jazz so hard.

@clayinthecarpet I don't join fandoms any more because they're all like this, although bronies are a little more obnoxious in some cases because there's no Homestuck documentary or "Thank Andrew Hussie!" donations or any other big display like that.

@scoot You don't know the meaning of "obnoxious" until you've seen as many 50-page argument threads on forums about a tiny nick in a Darth Vader helmet as I've seen. No, no,...there is worse than this fandom. Much, much, worse. Oh my god you don't even know.
