In French tu and vous both mean "you" but tu is always singular and vous is plural but vous can also be used a formal/respectful singular.

@northernnarwhal Most languages that distinguish the forms of singular/plural (in the west at least) use the same method for formality, even Turkish to a degree.

@northernnarwhal In Turkish? Very much so, it's like a degree of familiarity. If I understand correctly it's used more like when you've already been formally introduced. Lot of that has to do with european influence, which Turkish got more of than say, Tuvan.

@northernnarwhal Old Turkic languages did that all the time. Likely influenced by the Asian cultures they came into contact with earlier on, before they expanded westward.

@awlderpy That's true, plus my mom knows fluent Italian so I could ask her for help. My main barrier these days has been time, as I've been spending a lot of time working on all the different sciences for school as well as practicing and listening to music.

@awlderpy I think after all the time I spent thinking last summer I grew to realize something. I'm afraid of being comfortable, because comfort is the illusion of having nothing to do. But I know there's always something I could and/or should be doing, but I need to give myself the motivation to do it.

@awlderpy All the time. I'll start reading up on philosophy then I'll take a break to study music theory and halfway through that end up going to work on physics. The worst part is when I try to focus on everything at once I end up getting less done.

@awlderpy I can't recall any time you've said anything that has hurt me or even what I would consider rude, so I guess I'm just basing this on personal experience. I know where you're coming from though, I'm bipolar and can usually keep everything bottled up but sometimes I just have these bursts where I get incredibly emotional and start thinking and acting incredibly illogically.

@awlderpy Ah, I could never get into that. I guess I can appreciate from an uninformed perspective that a lot of mechanics knowledge goes into it, but given my lack of knowledge in the field all I see are cars driving around fast, despite knowing there's definitely a lot more to it.
