                2. @gigaramnebula don't think you can spike with alcohol before baking. The heat will evaporate all the alcohol content

                  1. @renovatedkitchen I guess that's pretty much correct XD. Alcohol cake is an awesome idea btw. My grandma's Christmas cake recipe. I make it with her in about October, and feed it a spoonful of brandy every couple of days, till it's very very very alcoholy by the time it's Christmas :3

                              1. @renovatedkitchen It also makes the cake less .. dry. I hope you can say it that way in english.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:52:53 UTC from web
                                1. @hakupony you can, and I know what you mean. It gives it that nice little bit of moistness and slightly softer bottom.

    3. @gigaramnebula Hello - I think, things are okay for now. There is just the possibility that the discussion if it's okay to eat meat derails into an argument.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:21:34 UTC from web
      1. @hakupony Okie o3o I see no real moral issue with it, but environmentally it's really bad farming that many animals, and red meat is super bad for you. Although I can't eat anything I've personally killed, so I guess I do have some kinda moral quandary with it.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:24:36 UTC from web
        1. @gigaramnebula Reminds me of someone who doesn't want to eat meat that looks like the animal it came from, being honest. Not meant in an offensive way, but you seem to be easy with ignoring that it came from animals unless it's clearly shown to you (e.g. when you kill it yourself) o,o I could be wrong though (please don't take this comment offensive, it isn't meant offensive in any way)

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:28:07 UTC from Choqok
          1. @omni Nah, that's pretty much it. I eat it because it tastes good, and the more abstract from the source, the better. Hate fat on meat too. Plan is to cut down to just chicken meatwise when I live on my own, and then see about cutting that out. Also the only thing I've ever "killed" was trapping a rabbit whilst in Explorer Scouts, which was then skinned and cooked in front of me. Too cute to eat. Too none-abstract to eat. So I'm either a reluctant meat-eater, or an incapable vegetarian.

            1. @gigaramnebula What do you think of in vitro meat (basically, meat which is grown instead of killed from an animal)?

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:34:38 UTC from web
              1. @toksyuryel If that would be available arount here, I'd eat meat again :)

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:36:24 UTC from web
                1. @hakupony It could happen in only a few years at this rate, provided the research isn't shut down by alarmists

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:38:12 UTC from web
              2. @toksyuryel That kinda future is the best case scenario, being able to make meat that was never sentient at any point, that doesn't produce a tonne of methane to buck the atmosphere, and can limit the energy usage to muscle growth without bucking over the animal's welfare (because there is no animal) AND being able to eat clones of the best cut of meat for that type ever? Could end world hunger, and give more people the opportunity to eat some tasty flank food. I would eat the buck out of vitro meat :3

                1. @gigaramnebula I am picturing top-quality filet mignon for 5-10 bucks. Mmmmm.

                  1. @toksyuryel that would be my dream, that's for sure

            2. @gigaramnebula Oh dear, I would cry and/or end up in my psycho wanna-kill mood then. I can't even kill a fly, I always catch them and release them outside of the house :P

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:55:13 UTC from Choqok
              1. @omni I do that with bugs bigger than a midge, midges I squish because demonspawn, moths and stuff are hard to catch, so I kind of just escort them out of my room, so it isn't my problem. My kitten is an expert bug catcher though.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 19:09:55 UTC from web
        2. @gigaramnebula I do now want anyone to suffer, this is my moral reason. However, I don't think that people will just cease to eat meat if I'm just enough of a pain to those who do. it would be a great step if we'd only use meat if it tasted better as if you don't :)

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:29:45 UTC from web
          1. @hakupony I don't want animals to suffer, but at the end of the day, the chicken on your fork probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for mass farming. And I'm careful to not eat mass-produced chickens, so they had the best life, and "best" death.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:34:07 UTC from web
            1. @gigaramnebula That's a valid point. If you really know where the food is from, I don't see that much of a problem with it. The problem is that there are no farmers I know arount here where the conditions are okay.

Wednesday, 23-May-12 16:35:29 UTC from web
              1. @hakupony We have a local butchers that sources ethcially bred meat, or go with free range supermarket stuff, which is also local, and very good conditions.
