@e OOO what about Quantum Mysticism?
Tuesday, 29-Jul-14 05:59:21 UTC from web-
im bored... QUICK EVERYONE REPLY TO THIS WITH THE STRANGEST AND OR MOST RANDOM THING YOU CAN POSSIBLY THINK OF!!!
-
@rd69 *holds up spork*
-
@rd69 Quantum physics
-
i think Rarity is winning
-
@e That's pretty much as close as you're gonna get to "true" randomness
-
@rd69 Broccoli
-
-
@northernnarwhal i think you might be right... UNLESS YOU WATCH THIS!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DRXudT1bos
-
@e Well the reasoning behind it is that you can only know the properties of something with wave particle duality after you observe it, rather than before (like Schrodinger's Cat)
-
@rd69 I think I'm still right :o
-
@rd69 First of. Does Random even exist?
-
@e Not that alone but it's one of the major points
-
@metaltao * ,
-
@metaltao the answer to that is Pinkie Pie
-
@rd69 SHe is predictable, she does something that will break the norm on a regular basis.\
-
@e Well if it makes you feel better it's not technically proven random since we don't know everything about quantum physics, but it's considered the closest we can get to "true" randomness.
-
@e I wouldn't consider myself deterministic, but I don't like misusing the term random so I consider myself "impulsive".
-
@e As in I act on whatever comes to my mind immediately, and I generally go with my gut.
-
@northernnarwhal That would be akin to impulsive. Would you sya you think before you act?
-
@e Just define it or use it please? This will be cool to learn? DON'T TEASE ME!
-
@e Yes, that everything is the caused by a natural law.
-
@metaltao Usually no
-
@northernnarwhal Ahhh, So, would you say you sometimes act impulseive but the majority, you act within your reasons?
-
@e Basically I don't think as much about things when I do them
-
@metaltao i do 99% of the time! maybe thats why i get hurt so much...
-
@metaltao No I'm usually pretty impulsive, but that's not to say I don't use reason as well. Just that it's usually my immediate reason.
-
@metaltao 'Deterministic' means that the rules and initial state of the universe determine exactly what happens during its run through. If one were to start the universe over again, it would run exactly the same way, in a deterministic universe.
-
@e Or am I jumping the gun?
-
@e I'm definitely closer to being for determinism than against it
-
@loveydoe That is slightly terrifying... But I can deal with that, But isn't Quantum Mysticism the opposite of that?
-
@metaltao Not at all like it. That's pseudoscience.
-
@northernnarwhal Oh... kiwi...
-
@northernnarwhal *thinks back* DAMN! I MISSED THAT!;pSD
-
@northernnarwhal Sorry about thta'.
-
@metaltao It's fine, it's a simple mistake.
