Oh man with RDN refresh it feels like the old tiems
Thursday, 14-Aug-14 23:18:35 UTC from web-
@meloetta Just pause refreshing because otherwise it'll screw up the timeline.
-
@meloetta What is that?
-
@meloetta You'll be telling your grandchildren stories of manually refreshing
-
@metaltao Before the auto-updating scripts were added to the site, we used client-side scripts to do the same. The latest versions had quite a few functions still missing from the server-side plugin.

@nerthos OOOOOO! Sounds like Reds doing!
-
@metaltao No, it's from before red worked on the site's code. It was first made by @haganbmj and then mantained by @widget until he added the server plugins.

@nerthos SOUNDS AWESOME
-
@metaltao I had loads of fun with it back in the day. @nlghtmaremoon or @twitch or whateer he goes as these days made a modification to the code to allow for deleted posts to remain on the timeline, marked as such, until manually refreshed. Then widget added code for the script to auto-update to the latest version, and later on to disable itself automatically when the server plugin was active, which I removed. Widget used to complain about my efforts to keep using the older versions instead of the updated ones he released.
-
@nerthos Sounds like a blast, I feel like I should be archiving the History of RDN or something...
-
@metaltao I'm kind of an RDN historian. I think there's one or two more people around who do the same.
-
@nerthos LET ME TELL YA ABOUT THE STARGAZER WAR
-
@nerthos Logging how RDN has changed and also how it has changed others, a personal retrospective?
-
@meloetta YES COMRADE MELO, EDUCATE THESE TODDLERS
-
@metaltao Important events, changes, and all that.
-
@nerthos Yes!
-
@metaltao Somewhere among my posts are detailed accounts of stuff from 2011 and 2012.
-
@ellie I don't think I'd make much money out of an RDN book.
-
@nerthos COOL! If I do, can I have permission to save those posts onto a text document?
-
@metaltao Sure, save whatever you want from my profile. IMO the site's content should still be under a creative commons license. No idea why it was changed to private.
-
@nerthos Ah the good ole days <3
-
@twitch Oh hey dude
-
@nerthos Hey! how goes life and whatnot?
-
@twitch Life is good on my end. Currently playing clicker games and thinking about wether I should go to bed. How's things on your end?
-
@nerthos good to hear, I'm doing good, I fell asleep after work.... and now I'm up... so I figured I would try to catch up on places of ancient history, and try to get some more sleeps soon.
-
@twitch Always nice to sleep a bit after work. That is, of course, as long as there's nothing to do.
-
@nerthos - nods - It was kind of nice ^_^
-
@twitch What kind of work do you do? It's been to long, and if you ever told me this before, I already forgot.
-
@nerthos I was selling, and repairing pianos way back.... I am now a controls Engineer. Proof the economy is getting just a touch better :p
-
@twitch That does sound better. Controls as in production line robotics?
-
@nerthos sort of, I work on automated package sortation systems.
-
@twitch Oh. Well, that's an area of work I have 0 knowledge of.
-
@nerthos Is one of the many things I set up, and program for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71JytjRVGrI
-
@twitch OK that looks more interesting than I thought it would be
-
@nerthos lol! It had its ups and downs... one up all the travel I get to do... one down all the travel I have to do :P
-
@twitch Guess that depends on what kind of travel you're doing. A 6 hour bus ride isn't as fun as a hour and a half high velocity train ride.
-
@nerthos Thankfully most of my travel is by plane
-
@twitch Going from plant to plant to set up the systems?
-
@nerthos yep ^_^
-
@twitch At the very least stagnation is not an issue
-
@nerthos Very true!
