@tiffany I mean, he has lots of incredible technical ability I just feel his material is sort of gimmicky. His lyrics try and dance a line between the humourous and dramatic but they don't necessarily achieve either. Production is generally kind of weak on lots of his stuff as well.

@metaltao I know I'm sort of known for being fairly knowledgeable about music but ultimately it comes down to everyone's preference. I don't think what makes an opinion a "good" one is the opinion itself, but rather how it's justified.

@mastermushi I think when watching an episodic show in the vein of Kino's Journey it's important to approach it as a series of isolated thought experiments. Tertiary characters in a given environment are only acting in a seemingly irrational manner because it correlates to their respective culture. Because one of the most important themes of the show is that it contemplates various aspects of human nature, so it's not meant to be a portrayal of a society we are intimately familiar with but rather separate societies that act as hypothetical "what if we lived in a world like this?" questions.

@mastermushi I wouldn't say Kino's Journey is a difficult show to follow, but it's definitely a difficult show to really appreciate. It's the sort of show where you can't really take what you're seeing at face value and have to ponder more about the themes and messages coming from the events taking place.

@mastermushi That's probably why she wasn't as interested in it. That isn't to say that romance is a bad genre though, I've seen some romance shows that have been absolutely fantastic, but Kino's Journey takes a certain kind of viewer to really appreciate it. It's an intelligent and thought provoking series that serves as a reminder of why I'm a fan of anime in the first place.
