Hey RDN! If you put a book series on a shelf, would you do it like so: http://pny.lv/057ku or like so: http://pny.lv/057kv ?

@thelastgherkin second one
-
@tiffany There are no wrong answers except that one
-
@thelastgherkin I'd feel too inclined to push them inwards if they were jutting out
-
@tiffany Oh, maybe I didn't explain the question. I was asking whether you'd put the first book in the series on the left or the right.
-
@thelastgherkin oh I see. in that case first one goes on the left
-
@tiffany WRONG AGAIN, mangoER
-
@thelastgherkin cherry you?
-
@thelastgherkin I also organize my books of the same series sequentially left to right
-
@tiffany I was having a debate with my brother and my sister-in-law about it. She thinks they should be placed left-to-right, since that's the order we read in, but my brother and I say that they should be right-to-left due to the spine text's orientation making it a top-to-bottom list.
-
@thelastgherkin left-to-right works better for me since I organise everything alphabetically but I see your point of view now
-
@northernnarwhal I'd do it left-to-right IF the spine text is either horizontal OR read from bottom-to-top. If every book did that, there'd be one unequivocally correct way.
-
@tiffany Tiff if you read Harry Potter in alphabetical order then I'm afraid you did it wrong
-
@thelastgherkin I just looked how I order my books. I do both ways, although the majority is sorted from right to left.
-
@thelastgherkin joke's on you, I haven't read any of them
-
@adiwan I was reading somewhere that more European/non-English books actually have their spine text oriented the other way, a-like a-this. http://pny.lv/057nv Do you have any of those?
-
@thelastgherkin I understand your reasoning now. With me I don't really pay much heed to the spine text, I'm generally just more concerned with ordering them from earliest to latest and moving my eyes from left to right is a more natural motion for me.
-
@thelastgherkin I have plenty of those. For example all my German Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams books have this spine text orientation.
-
@adiwan I wish my spines had that orientation. Welp, guess that's going to bug me forever until the next distraction.
-
@thelastgherkin It's funny that I have those sorted from right to left. The text orientation doesn't bother me on books but it bothers me on video games. 95% have the text from top to bottom. I have a few games that are the other way around and those stick out in an annoying way.
