@hakupony I think she romanticizes him for his sophistication too. Not to mention he seems to value her prestigious ties to the Princess as much as she values his wealth and influence. They seem to share a lot in common.

@hakupony Yes. ^_^ I also think Rarity would appreciate somepony who valued her prestige, as long as that isn't the only thing her partner likes about her obviously. She seemed quite tickled by Fancypants's doating over her because of her status. They'd have to work out some kinks of course, like her supposedly unresolved dishonesty about Rainbow being the trainer of the Wonderbolts and the fact that she'd probably end up moving to Canterlot to pursue a relationship with him. And whether they feel any real physical attraction toward each other is a big part of it too. Faust and associates obviously avoid that sort of thing in the show (except maybe with Blue Blood) so it's altogether unknown.

@pony Well this is guy marraige clause, where a male could marry a woman that is half is age younger. I.E. If a guy is 40, he could marry a woman as young as 20. Given the fact that Twilight and Spike are at a close age difference, Spike could use this clause to his advantage.

@pony Who say Celestia is involved in all the weddings? Cadence is a princess, so obviously the Queen will be involved, but I doubt she showed up to marry the Cakes.

@ceruleanspark I was thinking that celestia might have to approve if interspecies marriages of such a kind were unprecedented or uncommon. I suppose the local authority Mayor Mare might be just as capable of doing so, but maybe not.

@pony There is a huge class difference between Ponyville and Canterlot. Could a relationship survive if both ponies refuse to cut bonds? I doubt it because Canterlot is ridiculously snobby.

@hakupony yeah. I think depending on how different the classes are that could throw a wrench into things. On the other hand Fancypants has proven that he's able to resist the snobbishness of his peers and still retain their respect.
