"Lets be childish and call people names, surely that will sway peoples opinions and in no way Potato Knishes people off and further entrench them in their beliefs"

@maiyannah Every Republican candidate has been called Hitler before. It's old hat.
-
@gameragodzilla I resent the people that make childish arguments like this because it only makes the ACTUAL reasonable arguments that much more difficult to get taken seriously.
-
@maiyannah @gameragodzilla But the guy is ORANGE!!
-
@lambadalambda @gameragodzilla way judge a person based on the colour of their skin FrankerZlord
-
@maiyannah Well if people were being reasonable, we wouldn't have had Hillary run in the first place because "mango".
-
@lambadalambda @maiyannah Das wasis
-
@maiyannah It's those that made childish comments that illegitimatised the arguments against Trump and contributed to his winning; why those that make the comments don't seem to grasp that I don't know.
maiyannah likes this. -
@awl Because it's not about actually stopping or opposing him, but rather the appearance of doing so, as they desire social credit. "Look at me fighting the bad people!"
-
@maiyannah it seems like 'hopefully we learned our lesson' is becoming a meaningless mantra.
-
@awl Calling racists racist didn't get Trump elected, no matter how much people would like to make it out to be so.
-
@awl "Well I did my part," says the slacktivist, nervously looking at all the other slacktivists around them. As long as they don't feel they have individual blame for something, people can explain a lot away, rationalize and make excuses. In psychology, we call this concept the "diffusion of responsibility"
There's a reason these people scream bloody murder if they're held personally responsible for anything. They join these groups hoping to avoid personal responsibility. -
@ceruleanspark Not the message itself as much as the portrayal of it, via memes and comedic tinge. How serious is that supposed to be taken?
-
@ceruleanspark @awl Racist.
-
@awl Comedy is an effective way to get a serious point across.
-
@actualrudolph May be so, but it can be overdone, and I think it was this time round.
