    2. @derpyshy Wait, is that Photoshop? AFAIK that's not cross-platform-compatible, so unless you're fine with switching to GIMP or Inkscape, you should at least leave Windows on your dual-boot (WINE should work, but is never really a great solution).

      1. @omni I might suggest a virtual machine so that using Photoshop doesn't require a reboot every time, though I know that's still not *optimal.*

        1. @scribus That's not a bad idea per-se, but as far as I know his laptop is quite weak, and running Windows 7 AND Xubuntu/Lubuntu will only make it slower than only Windows 7.

          1. @omni Ah, got it. Yeah, trying to run two OSes at once is definitely not a light load. >.<

            1. @scribus Actually, if your hardware supports VT-x (or its AMD counterpart that I don't recall the name of), it can be fairly light depending on _what_ guest OS is in use. But not for two full desktop OSes, yeah.

        1. @derpyshy Well, it can't hurt to give Xubuntu or Lubuntu a try using Wubi. It's not as fast as it can be then, but at least you can see if you'll like it enough in general to consider a real installation: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/windows-installer (If you get to this step: http://www.ubuntu.com/sites/www.ubuntu.com/files/active/02_ubuntu/windows-installer-4.png just choose "Lubuntu" or "Xubuntu" under "Desktop environment"). But no, there is (still) no Photoshop for Linux. But seeing how much popularity Linux is gaining, and even Steam coming to it, I think it'll be only a matter of time.

              1. @omni I'd say Gtalk but i need to sort out my contacts, so i just have steam i guess. *hugs*

                1. @cavatina # I can't promise much availability on Steam, but I should be available for at least half an hour. Here is my Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/TheLastProject Gtalk is Omnicrox (if you want to add me there later)

          3. @omni Also, it shut down because of Skype + moving 1GB of ponies to an external harddrive.....

      3. @omni Wine is also a "papering over the cracks" solution, rather than a "filling in the cracks" solution - simulating the Windows API is a bad solution compared to actually getting a native port, if both are equally viable.
