    1. @widget I still think it would be nice to just warn users when they try to post if their post contains a bad word, but allow them to post anyway in the off chance that it's an edge-case scenario. #

    3. @widget I think the problem started because the filter was implemented in a sudden sweep instead of throughly testing it for at least some of the more obvious false positives. People are feeling that it was just thrown together in a spur-of-the-moment fit of rage, rather than as a tested solution that the staff thought through. That's just how I'm seeing it as an outsider, though.

    7. @widget Perhaps not, but look at how people are reacting. People reacted in a kneejerk fashion, and I'm betting some of them did it because the world filter was literally "just there", though I know my boyfriend @toksyuryel was angry for different reasons as well. Just... a bit of advice from a multi-time forum and community admin: Before implementing a major new feature, give at least three days of repeated notice before making the change live. That was the "sweet spot", at least for the communities I was in charge of.

      1. @teradyne There has been plenty of notice, though. We brought up the word filter on a regular basis for weeks before it was implemented, and nobody bothered to say anything until it was actually put in.

        1. @redenchilada Bluh bluh there was no announced date for the implementation.

          1. @nerthos I won't deny there were a few issues with how putting it on was handled, but there was plenty of time to bring up any possible concerns.

            1. @redenchilada Bluh bluh, optional and then "I do what I want"

              1. @nerthos Hey, widget said it in a panic and then I went with it. Sorry for misleading or something, I guess.

                1. @redenchilada I won't get into this because it would cause another flamewar, but I can't trust someone who doesn't keep his word. If you say something, you're honor bound to comply.

                  1. @nerthos Sometimes things come up. He was pretty much put on the spot (partially my fault, sorry widget) and saying the opposite would have only kept a fruitless argument going. Sometimes people change their stances. Nobody here has an obligation to provide you with anything; we make mistakes sometimes.

                    1. @redenchilada I won't make an issue of this, but neither I'll trust what I'm told.

        2. @redenchilada The first time I heard anything about it was right after it was implemented.
