@doctorscribus No lie. I used nano for years that it became habit to launch it whenever I needed to edit something, so when I started to switch back to using vim I turned it into an alias so I wouldn't be tempted to go back to using it.

@doctorscribus That's exactly why I made the alias, because nano is easy so it's very tempting to use it when I don't require vim's power. But then I get out of practice with using vim. The only way to get good at using vim is to use it exclusively even for little things you don't need it for.

@toksyuryel That's a good point, actually. If you use a simpler program enough, it becomes a habit to use that instead of something better unless you force yourself.

@toksyuryel I'll admit, VIM is bomb, but the "mode changing" thing is just a touch too weird for my liking. I can do it, but given that I've got 8 Gigs RAM on my cheapo boxx3n, it just isn't worth worrying anymore.

@doctorscribus I've got 16 gigs of RAM and I still use vim. There's just too many awesome things it can do. Using anything else would just be far too slow.

@thatonestocking I don't have the motivation to deal with hardware. My laptop fuels my programming habits just fine, and I don't have to worry about bending pins and forgetting paste when messing with it.
