This assignment wants me to code in C# using Visual Studio 2010. Lame.

@yodelerty Nothing much, buddy! c: How are ya?

@dlcentaur I'm pretty tired. I woke up at 5 so I could finish my part of a proposal before classes. It didn't go well.

@yodelerty Aww... I'm really sorry to hear that, bro. #Squeezehugs

@dlcentaur University is really the most stressful thing. :/

@yodelerty Agreed.

@dlcentaur Especially when you still have to work 8-hour shifts on the weekend and the occasional evening shift. Bad for my social life.

@yodelerty I know that feel. Oh so very very well...

@yodelerty C# isn't an awful language, honestly. Maybe not my first choice, but it's pleasant enough that I definitely wouldn't object too hard to being in a situation that required it.
-
@bitshift The problem is that I don't actually know any C#. I assume that I could make a little progress with my basic knowledge of C++ but it would probably fail in the end.

@yodelerty Treat it as a new language. It may have a broadly C-like syntax, but it's no more a direct descendant of C than, say, Java (which is also loosely C-like, and also not a C, though it's at least not named as if it was one).
-
@bitshift Okay!

@bitshift GRAUGH I HATE JAVA! D:<

@insaneclownscribus It's... eh, I dislike the amount of boilerplate it has compared to my favourite languages, but it's a solid enough language. And the JVM itself is excellent, especially since it's very viable these days to run a number of other (better?) languages atop it.
-
@bitshift Yeah, I really mostly have a problem with the Java books my alleged school had. Incorrect code examples abound! "Enter this code and see what happens:" (code won't run at all) "You should have got:" (actual result)[throws book across room, leaves class]

@yodelerty VS2010, though... that suggests you'll be primarily using it as a .NET language, and while the framework is actually not badly designed for what it is, it's still a Windows-centric thing (yes, I know there's Mono; it sucks). :S
-
@bitshift Err... yeah. Something like that.
