@techdisk Isn't living on credit cards plastic money?
-
@techdisk I'll stick with paper money, thanks
-
@scribus yes, but this looks a billion times better. http://db.tt/VXla9McW
-
@redenchilada Pfft, copper/silver/gold/platinum, man.
-
@redenchilada but does your paper money smell like MAPLE SYRUP? i think not.
-
@techdisk Your government's wasting money on replacing its currency, you say?
-
@techdisk Money shouldn't smell like anything.
-
@redenchilada "wasting money" pffft. Get with the times. We abolished the penny.
-
@techdisk That's dumb. What happens when an order comes to $3.37 or something?
-
@redenchilada we round up. Easy. Besides. Did you know it costs 3 cents to make a penny?
-
@techdisk Getting inflation under control would be a much better solution than just removing lower denominations, though. :/
-
@redenchilada to the nearest five cents, i mean.
-
@redenchilada you cant get inflation under control enough to make pennies worth it.
-
@techdisk Is that a CHALLENGE!? D:<
-
@scribus why not?
-
@techdisk Eh, there are a lot of economic issues that would have to be solved first. I wouldn't say impossible, though.
-
@redenchilada impossible without drastic action, i mean.
-
@redenchilada besides, who is gonna counterfeit a plastic bill?
-
@techdisk Counterfeiters.
-
@techdisk Plastic seems even easier to counterfeit than what we use. Certainly can't be that much more difficult.
-
@scribus It is just like paper, only it would cost the counterfeiters much more for plastic over paper and processing the plastic into the right thickness
-
@scribus ... who already have enough money to do so. Anyway, something ive always wondered, if old bills are still legal tender, why do criminals even bother with new bills?
-
@erak43 Wouldn't that mean it also costs more to legally produce the money?
-
@redenchilada a little bit harder than a photocopier, though. And how do you copy the smell of maple syrup?
-
@techdisk Eventually, old bills stand out more. I guess.
-
@techdisk Wait, you were serious about that?
-
@redenchilada Huh, yeah, I guess so
-
@techdisk ...You think forging our bills can be done with just a photocopier? That's hilarious.
-
@redenchilada but the mint has the right machines to process it easily, so no, not really.
-
@redenchilada Arguably, a forgery only needs to be as good as the person you're trying to fool.
-
@redenchilada its been done before. I saw a show where these guys printed them out, sprayed the fake bills with hairspray, and were able to go to mexico and buy mexican drugs with it.
-
@scribus about the maple syrup smell? Yes. Completely.
-
@techdisk Far out.
-
@scribus http://www.somisguided.com/weblog/comments/the-smell-of-moneycanadas-new-100-bill-smells-like-maple1/
-
@techdisk of course the 20 and 50 are also out now and have the same smell.
-
@techdisk Wow...
-
@techdisk That's funny. It's like, if someone said "Mexican money smells like refried beans!" that would be racist, but "Canadian money smells like maple syrup!" is just plain true. (And American money smells like leather and butt)
-
@scribus we just kinda embraced our stereotype. Or maybe its just supposed to smell like maple trees and not syrup, but meh.
-
@scribus American money should smell like hamburgers and fries.
Techdisk likes this. -
@scribus "Leather and butt" sounds like a good time.
-
@redenchilada I hereby take it upon myself to rub my wallet on some In-N-Out!
-
@thelastgherkin To those who are so inclined, I suppose so.
-
@redenchilada actually, by canadian logic with making it the smell of our largest stereotypical export, your money should smell of bullets.
-
@thelastgherkin I'm more of a "Lace and Whiskey" kind of guy. (Or, really, "any Alice Cooper reference" kind of guy)
-
@techdisk are you saying a photocopier can just make counterfeit US bills? Haha
-
