@rotation alright I just need to confirm something.. On your profile it says "This account under Gherkin control" @theLastGherkin isn't subscribed to any of my tags, and I'm not subscribed to @rotation at all. That leads me to believe I'm correct in assuming you're actually Bitrotate. Do you want me to unsubscribe @bitshift from the tags then?

@toksyuryel They are. I haven't gone advertising them to anypony since I first set them up, but when I started using them in the beginning I only applied the tags to users who explicitly said they wanted to receive those characters, etc. in their Replies. There were a few exceptions on my subs list at the time however from whom I never got a response, and I think @rotation was one of them. And among those who didn't respond I saw a few and thought, this pony likes awesome pics, so I added the awesome tag to them, (since I planned on using that tag less often). Anywho yeah.. that's how that happened.

@pony It's not opt-in if you add people to it when they didn't ask for or consent to you doing so. The correct action after not receiving a response is to not add them.

@pony Wouldn't it be a better idea to post them to groups? That way people can opt in and out whenever they want, without you needing to manage the lists yourself.

@toksyuryel @redenchilada That's a nice idea, but group tagged notices don't go to Replies. I actually do care when somepony no longer wishes to be subscribed, and, like I said, there were very few who I decided to tag for awesome pics without them asking.. only those I genuinely thought would enjoy them. Among about 5 users I tagged in such a way, Rotation is the first to ask for an unsubscribe. I'll gladly remove every last tag from all my subs as soon as they request it. I suppose I could begin tagging pics for groups as well, but that's sort of what !saved is for since I don't usually feel like tagging 3 times for each character (# @# and !)

@pony I just don't think it makes sense to use one feature when another feature is so much more useful for this kind of thing. Subscription tags are for when you need to control who it goes to; groups are better for situations where it's the others choice.

@redenchilada yes and no. Groups are great, but I don't visit them often. In fact, I rarely click tags in general. There are advantages and disadvantages to both I think.

@pony That's not me, though as luck would have it, I /was/ going to ask to be unsubscribed from the tags anyway - I don't think I've ever clicked through any except on the public/personal timelines, so it'd benefit me to receive only actual mentions in my replies timeline.
