@zeldatra And another person who clearly didn't get it. There is nothing wrong with paying for Free software, but you shouldn't buy proprietary software as you're supporting your own oppression. The fact that so much Free software is also "gratis" (no money has to be spend) is just a cool bonus.

@omni I was semi serious. The guy claims proprietary software is the root of all evil. That's kinda ridiculous. They don't have to release the source for everyone to see if they don't want to. I'm sorry we can't live in a world where everyone gives away their blueprints for the hell of it.

@zeldatra Why can't we give away the source code? Also, as far as I know, giving away the source code when someone BUYS a product is fine as well (at least, fine by me). To me it seems only reasonable that if you buy something, you can do whatever you want with it. I think it's insane that our society has evolved into a state where, if you buy something, you don't own it or have any rights regarding it. Hell, Amazon can wipe all purchased ebooks off a Kindle without having to explain why or giving any compensation. Is that reasonable? Buying something and having companies take it away completely without a good reason? Sure, there are only some cases, but it clearly shows that some software is designed in ways which allow the creator to have complete control over you when they should not.

@omni Look, you use Linux. I respect that. What I don't respect is you pushing your "everything should be free" mentality on the rest of us.

@zeldatra How is it pushing? You keep replying to these discussions, and I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to defend myself against your arguments. What am I doing wrong by giving counter-arguments against your arguments? (Also, I only stated that software should be free as in freedom. Not in monetary sense. There's nothing wrong with asking money for your hard work. The way you use free is unclear, so I had to make that clear. Besides that, is there any reason you're directly linking this to using Linux? A lot of Linux users don't agree to this, and therefore your link doesn't make any sense. Not every Linux is a "Free software supporter", and not every "Free software supporter" is a Linux user.)

@zeldatra Oh, really? One thought-provoking quote so this place doesn't die (because you guys always cry about that), one joke and one part of a discussion where I give an explanation because you named Apple as bad for something, and called Microsoft good when they were both bad in that discussion? I really hope you aren't serious. I could go and grab a few random quotes from you as well and say "you're pushing Windows on me". Should I go and do that right now?
