        1. @jmax What the hell kind of contract is that. I've never heard of a cell contract that forces you to buy an idevice.

            1. @critialcloudkicker I, personally, prefer Android's more open software development approach. Apple has a walled-garden approach to software development that heavily limits what people can do with it, oftentimes for no other reason than to increase their own profits (This blog post http://blog.ppy.sh/post/11904105154/developing-an-allergy-to-apples illustrates some of what I mean). Android, meanwhile, is almost completely open; there's little regulation of the market outside of "is this inappropriate/illegal to have on here" and "a registration fee to keep the clutter out"; if one so chooses to avoid the market they're perfectly capable of distributing APKs through other means. It just appeals to me more as someone who's trying to get into software development. (blah blah this site gives me too many characters to ramble with)

              1. @redenchilada ( and also @techdisk ) so what about windows phones ? ( note that other than having to recover countless photos and video's from a laptop because you appearently NEED "zune" to sync data with your laptop/PC ( A friend of mine told me that while I was recovering on his laptop ) ) I have NO experience with those phones

                1. @critialcloudkicker I don't have much of an opinion on them. I know exactly one person who uses one and he's not a tech junkie who would be able to tell me anything useful about how it works.

                    1. @critialcloudkicker My opinion as an end user on iOS, however, is this: if iOS works for you, as in you love every part of it, then iOS is the best for you. However, if there is something you don't like about iOS, no matter how small, your better off getting an android. In iOS, the settigs app really doesnt do much. In Android, it does a LOT.

                2. @critialcloudkicker I cant say much, never even touched one, let alone used one. My outside opinion is "avoid like the plague" but thats the android lover in me talking.

                  1. @techdisk Appearently you "need" some Microsoft only software on your PC/laptop which means that it is off the table for me at least. Lest I plan to grow a beard over trying to get "Microsoft Zune" working under Wine.

                    1. @critialcloudkicker Well there you go. In summary: if you want something that works right out of the box, go for iOS. if you want to have a personilized experience, android. If you want something buisnessy, blackberry. If you want to waste your money, Windows.

                        1. @critialcloudkicker Oh wow. It took a car crash to actually dent my old 3310. And it took a flooding to actually kill it. If possible I'd still use it.

        2. @critialcloudkicker Customizability. Don't like the keyboard? Go ahead and change it. Hate the homescreen? Download a new one. Don't like how the OS itself acts under certain circumstances? Easy. Install a custom ROM like Paranoid Android and go nuts. Also, when comparing to an iphone, why have HD with that tiny screen? The Galaxy nexus had a huge screen way before the iphone 5 came out.

          1. @techdisk *nods nods* paranoid android you say * quickie searchie * ohkay, that looks like something I want to mess with alright :) ... and this is why I like individual opinions more than "opinion vs opinion" style "this phone is better than that phone"
