I would love to donate blood for these sorts of things if my blood wasn't useless.
Monday, 15-Apr-13 20:13:09 UTC from web-
@mastertdi I still need to have my blood tested, but. And this is a big but. I would have no idea how to get to the blood donation spot and then hop on my bike and do the full 8 miles back to my home.
-
@mastertdi What's useless about it? Aside from being too far away?
-
@mastertdi i want to, but i'm afraid of that =(...
-
@critialcloudkicker That sucks. I'd love to be helpful. :/
-
@scribus I have anemia, I'm on loads of different meds, among other things.
-
@mushi I'm not, I get plenty of needles.
-
@mastertdi There is a big chance I have O type blood, not sure if positive or negative. There is a 0% chance I have AB though. Unless if my dad is not my dad. I guess I might be afraid of that too a bit.
-
@critialcloudkicker You would have your mom's Blood Type. Not your father's.
-
@critialcloudkicker @mastertdi i dont.....whever i get courage i see a person taking a need to the arm and then i get afraid again...
-
@mastertdi Ah, yeah.
-
@mushi The only thing I would be afraid of is contracting some form of STD... Last time something bad happned with the blood donations is in 2006 though, you would have a better chance winning the lottery
-
@critialcloudkicker i will do it... someday... D=....
-
@cabal If my dad would have type O it is impossible for me to have AB, if my mom would have type AB I would have been a miscariage
-
@critialcloudkicker also, i dont know my blood type, there must be a way for them to find it out over ther, it think
-
@mushi It's really not that bad. Maybe I'm saying that cuz I'm used to it, but I really wouldn't worry about it.
-
@critialcloudkicker I can't remember what my blood type is... A+, I think.
-
@mastertdi but i would >_>... one of my reasons to want to donate blood is trying to overcome this fear, but it is not easy to do
-
@mushi Lots of people have the same problem, so I can't blame you. It's terrible that I'm one of the most comfortable people I know when it comes to needles, but I most likely can't do cherries-all to help.
-
@mastertdi fortunatelly, i've been blessed with a solid health, so i almost never have to take it, but the problem is that when i might need it, i freak out
-
@mastertdi A+ is able to donate to A+ and AB+. And only able to receive from A+, A-, O+, and O-... Meanwhile O- is able to give to all and receive only from O-... Also AB+ can receive from all and give only to AB+
-
@critialcloudkicker How can blood even be so fussy.
-
@mushi That sucks. I get injections every 3 months, at least.
-
@mastertdi antigens on the blood cell membrane and Rh factor
-
@mastertdi my last one was in 2008, and before that i dont even remember the year
-
@mushi It's practically a hobby for me now. Me and my stupid immune system.
-
@mastertdi i couldnt be happier with my imune system. My sister, on the other hand, went to the hospital from an auto imune reaction she got from touching a slug
-
@mushi Wow, I don't think even mine is that bad. D:
-
@mastertdi it looks like i got all the health of my parent's children
-
@mushi Your parents' children sure are blessed.
-
@cabal Lets see if I remember well enough how this works to explain it. When you are born you get 2 copies for every gene 1 from mommy and 1 from daddy, both of which have an ABO code for blood. ( also the Rh factor, which is always either positive or negative ) Then if you would make a punnet square knowing only my dad's side ... Oh wait, yea there is a chance I might actually have AB blood, but only if my dad has a dominant O and code for A ( or B ) in his genetic code, and my mom had B ( or A ) with no genetic code for O. Those chances are however, very slim compared to being pure A pure B or pure O ( which are in turn slim when compared to having a dominant A B or O with code for A or B or O ) ... You know I would need my mom's blood type for this.
-
@mastertdi Blood is not fussy. Blood is simple. The body is difficult. When your body detects a foreign substance ( lets take the influenza virus as example ) the body attacks it with all it's might. If you would think of blood as trucks for a moment, where A blood are Amber coloured trucks, B blood are Black coloured trucks, and O blood are Opal coloured trucks. Immagine you are type A ( so you only have Amber coloured trucks in your veins ) and you get a donation from B type blood ( so suddenly you get Black trucks on the same highway ) ... the cops in your body ( the antibodies ) do not know the Black truck so they attack it like a mid 1980's trigger happy police squad on a negroide man.
-
@critialcloudkicker But still... it shouldn't be so complicated to save a life.
-
@mastertdi Yes, also becoming a doctor should be made so simple that everypony should be able to make a successfull C-section using a stapler, pencil, and a breadknife... McGuyver doctor to the resque !
-
@critialcloudkicker Mm... if only.
