@oracle that sounds difficult. I've read that you need a very specific hardward setup for a hackintosh.

@vt3c By the way, I will not take you up on your offer simply because all mail goes through my parents and they'll wanna know why a guy in Minnesota that I met on a Rainbow Pony site is sending me mail. It sounds wimpy of me and that's because it is, but eh.
-
@vt3c You seriously can't get rid of that thing? Holy crap
-
@vt3c Sorry tech like that is gonna go to waste. :/
-
@vt3c That's what I mean. You seriously can't find someone to give that to?
-
@vt3c I mean... if nobody else wants it, my mom was wanting to get a new computer anyways, and I could always just give her mine and swap the stuff over.
-
@vt3c pick me! I'll pay shipping and stuff.
-
@vt3c Would I have to handle shipping or are they? Because I would more than likely be able to get my parents to agree to pay for the shipping if it isn't too much and they're actually fully working.
-
@vt3c they want to get rid of that too?
-
@vt3c just let me know because we'll happily take 1 or the other depending on the costs and whatnot.
-
@vt3c I have room for something big no problem. Just gonna have to sell my old system or donate her.
-
@vt3c are they selling the win 8 copies?
-
@vt3c alright just lemme know.
-
@vt3c I have an ATI all-in-wonder in my old system that's unused right now. Would that work? I honestly don't care what the systems look like. We've just gotta figure out which should go to who I suppose if they wanna give them to us for just the cost of shipping or whatever. (And I'm interested in maybe buying a copy of Win 8 if it's a good deal.) @flamingpandaomg
-
@vt3c oh cool! If they're selling keys that'd work too I guess. But I'd just as soon install XP if I can't purchase the OS.
-
@vt3c Well I'm at work now so I'll check in 8 hours. I'm pretty sure it's a PCI Express. My motherboard was a large 17 year old Asus, though which I've forgotten, not that that tells you much I guess. I built the system myself. I loved it, but since it died (I think it was the motherboard that finally gave out though I'm no good at diagnosing) I have a loud little pre-owned PC at home that covers the basics.
-
@vt3c gotcha
-
@vt3c I got it when I was about 16 or 17 and I'm 30 now so I guess it's 14 years old. Sorry I could,kt math.
-
@pony also can't text.
-
@vt3c I totally understand. I can pay through Paypal if that helps.
-
@vt3c now that you mention it it's probably AGP. I remember a smaller connector slot
-
@awlderpy if they can do it I say you should get it. You need a better computer.
-
@vt3c yeah. XD I got a 2GHz AMD processor at a good price and it was a great learning experience.
-
@awlderpy you live near vt3c?
-
@vt3c oh my! Well I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it, but here's hoping!
-
@vt3c yep I'm bad with names but I think that's it. Single core. Technology has improved so much!
-
@vt3c I actually have a nice case, but it's not that nice. It sounds worth the $100. I'll have to convince my wife. It would help if you could tell me it runs quietly. She's always complaining about my current machine's loud fans.
-
@vt3c I mean if they want to keep the case and give away the guts I'd take just that but I'm guessing they might not wanna sell it separately?
-
@vt3c xD Makes me nostalgic to think about the first computer I bult. I've actually not built any since then since it lasted up until 3 years ago.
-
@vt3c oh wow. Sounds pretty sweet, and it'd be nice to have small since I'll probably end up having limited space.
-
@vt3c what...did...you...just...say...im...not...smart...in...that...way...xD
-
@vt3c nah it's cool. She's actually very frugal so the more I can convince her earlier on the better. How's the GPU in it btw?
-
@vt3c and don't worry. I know they might not be able to sell it. So I'm not getting my hopes up too high
-
@vt3c totally!
-
@vt3c Yeah I had a friend who filled me in on some of the history of the MHz race among other things back in the day. It's cool to think that soon enough computers could have nanoconstructed gates and use crystal to store photons instead of charge.. I oughta read up on quibits tonight.
-
@vt3c I don't want to cause you any trouble. Would it at least play online games alright? As long as it has a bit more VRAM than my desktop machine I'll be very happy. That shouldn't be hard.
-
@vt3c My aunt's old Macintosh computer was sturdy and I loved playing on it. If money's not an issue I think they're good to get for certain things..
-
@vt3c Mostly flash games, but there are a few with 3D plugins. Also, I play Maplestory which is a 2D MMORPG.
-
@vt3c So my desktop PC currently only has 128 MB vram. I only remember this because I checked recently in order to make sure I had the bare minimum to play Legends of Equestria. I'm apparently not literate enough to recognize what my exact GPU is on my desktop machine (through remote login), but it's just an HP Compaq of some variety. The very most I'm really interested in doing is livestreaming while I play Legends of Equestria or while modeling in Maya. If I can't then that's just fine.
-
@vt3c cool! I guess it'll all come down to price.
-
@vt3c ah then it sounds like it'll probably match my current machine's performance graphics-wise. How much will a new GPU cost? I'm worried I might need to forfeit a (hypothetical) golden opportunity.
-
@vt3c @oracle That sounds like good advice. If it were free I'd pay shipping and gladly take it off their hands, but as is I guess they'll have to find a buyer elsewhere. My current PC is actually from about the same year, but it's just a pre-owned work PC with a pentium 4 and 1GB RAM. I bet I could upgrade the RAM for a little preformance boost maybe.
-
@vt3c *hugs* see ya soon dood
-
@vt3c Bye bye you.
-
@vt3c Sleep well! Maybe when you come back you can tell me why my processor is listed twice in my hardware manager. http://ur1.ca/f0ndi
-
@pony Probably driver conflict
-
@nerthos it says both are working properly *shrugpony*
-
@pony If I remember right, Intel does Hardware and Software separately. Otherwise, it's just Windows being Windows.
-
@oracle I can hope I've been enjoying something so nice.
-
@vt3c it says beneath Computer that I have an ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Is that still as bad as you thought?
-
@mrdragon it says beneath Computer that I have an ACPI Multiprocessor PC. I dunno what to think.
-
@oracle How much and what specs? I'm currently not hurting for a laptop, Mine are only about 5 years old I guess.
-
@oracle oh that's super fancy!
