  6. @firebalt for the chat style timeline you just need to check the top box on this page http://rainbowdash.net/settings/oldschool

  7. @firebalt ok thank you everyone :)

  8. @firebalt the newest conversations will bump to the top of the timeline if you refresh the page. You can also change the timeline to chat style rather than thread style and the newst posts will show at the top automatically.

  9. @firebalt Nope, not a specific list per se. If you want to see your replies, click on the arrow button underneath your profile name, on the upper right-hand corner.

  10. @firebalt When you click back to the site, you'll see the new posts in whatever conversations they belong to. (Making new posts clearly marked in the new threaded view is actually something I've been meaning to fix...)

  11. @firebalt sometimes the (#) doesn't go away when you view the browser tab. It's supposed to clear as soon as you view the main site page.

  12. @firebalt Simply clicking on the tab to see the timeline should clear it.

  13. @firebalt so wait, when it says like (6) Public timeline at the top of the tab on my browser, how do I see the update list?

  14. @firebalt The most common comparison made is between this site and Twitter. We're pretty similar to that - short posts, @replies to others, subscriptions to others - but we also have our own features, such as groups, built-in spoiler support, and an open-ended public timeline. (Replies to posts being nested under the original is also something we have that Twitter doesn't have done as well - it's actually a relatively new feature, only brought in when we updated the base software we run a week or so ago.) We're basically just a place to hang out, talk about whatever, and just have fun.

  15. @firebalt Ignore that, it's much more like Twitter than anything else

  16. @firebalt It's most like Twitter in the way it works, though. Except a little fancier, considering Twitter doesn't have built-in spoiler support.

  17. @firebalt Kinda yes, and definitely no. In that order.

  19. @firebalt The basics are pretty much listed and explained here better than anyone could in a quick post. The stuff there will basically get you up and running using the site. If you have more questions, feel free to ask anything more specific and one of us can give you a better answer. (I do coding work here, so poke me specifically if nobody else knows how to answer a question you have.)

  20. @firebalt use the reply arrow beneath any message to reply and check the rules for how to properly post spoilers

  21. @firebalt What does "everything else" entail? What specifically would you like to do?

  22. @firebalt You can also see replies or mentions that were sent to you by going to your replies page (the little left-pointy arrow up in the top right). There's other stuff, but that's about all you need to get started, and there's plenty of helpful folks around if you need someone to ask about something more specific.

  24. @firebalt Well everypony else seems to have answered the query well enough, so I'll just stick with a welcome. (goes back to saying inane things)

  25. @firebalt It's not too hard to understand, what do you need help with? If it's replying you just gotta press the little arrow icon on a user's post.

  26. @firebalt But being more serious. You type new messages in the little box that says "Update your status...", or replies by clicking on the little arrow under the message you want to reply to, and then typing in that box.
