    @flaredancer Yeah Dvorak or something similar was designed first then replaced. It has all the most common letters on home row. Qwerty is meant to space them out as much as possible. I guess that's not really designed to be slow necessarily, actually, but the effect is that it slows typing a lot.

    @flaredancer yeah it's cool stuff! Dvorak (or something similar) was introduced first iirc., and when it caused major jamming was thrown out sort of. It puts all of the most commonly used letters on the home row, whereas Qwerty spaces them as much as possible.. I guess I should say Qwerty isn't so much designed for slowness as it is to space common letters enough to prevent jamming.. a little different

    @flaredancer yes.. in fact, Qwerty was specifically designed to be the slowest keyboard for typists back when it was created in order to prevent type- writer jamming.. I think school would do well to teach kids typing on dvorak which is designed for speed.
