@abigpony better put, I don't let gameplay win me over to the point I play games for the sake of playing them. Working at Gamestop for five years showed me how hard it was to describe others how certain games impress me or have an emotional impact because most of these guys literally buy a new game because they're not currently playing anything. I have to extremely identify with a game's concept, story or characters to get excited about it in the first place. Even then I don't feel like playing it unless I feel like the game is doing something thematically I haven't experienced before, like with Catherine.

@abigpony Walking Dead didn't contribute to zombie popularity? Lol. By seasoned gamers, I mean something that's more complex to explain but the long and short boils down to the desensitized reception of action games. AKA play enough shooters and you stop caring why your dude chooses to fight and you just take it for granted (Mega Man X actually addressed this in its brief narrative). Play enough zombie games and you don't really read too much into the game's attempts to convey how the characters are struggling to accept the reality. Bioshock had a story that you had to piece together yourself from the characters and environment and not really one that was a string meant for you to follow. I'm sorry if you missed out on it but you're also in a starkly contrasted minority when you describe your feelings on Bioshock.

I wish I had Beauty and the Beast on DVD right now. The story arc and villain's personal arc are to be admired, to say the least, and the conflict structure is smooth as a jelly-obsessed pony's bottom.

LuckyJack stared across the poker table, attempting to decipher the stoic look in his opponent’s emotionless green eyes. His competitor, a pony notorious in the Casinos throughout Equestria, was none other than Big Macintosh. LuckyJack glanced downwards at his deck. He held an Ace High. In a spur of instinct, Lucky pushed his remaining chips towards the center. He was all in. "So, are you gonna call or are you gonna bluff?" He called out to his opponent. The crowd around them grew silent. With a victorious smirk, Big Mac replied, "Eeyup!” Tossing his cards towards the center, the Red-Gold pony crossed his hooves. The cards drifted steadily downwards and landed side-by-side. The face-up cards neatly displayed a pair of Two’s. Lucky was stunned. He thought surely he had had him beat. Stepping away from his seat, he ran out of the Casino, doing his best to hold back the tears that were welling up in his eyes.
