  1. @ixfocus Trying now, I feel like sh** for this. I've made a mess up and it's cost us... makes me feel bad pony. But this is what happens with this forum. Sad face.

  3. @haganbmj Yeah, thank @ixfocus for that new development. And I'm member # due to having a completely separate login.

  4. @ixfocus I have nothing against some forum existing. I don't see why it needs to be linked from here, and so prominently at that.

  5. Found it! A pain going back 8 pages on a slow connection. @ixfocus is the admin for rainbowdash.com which does not compete with rainbowdash.net

  6. @ixfocus That's what I was looking for. Stop being so logical! You'll never get Pinkie Pie fans that way! Oh, and the banner code is designed for really wide screens. Is that intentional?

  9. @ixfocus Forgot, I had the site cached. Good old Ctrl+F5 fixed it all.

  10. @ixfocus Should I be joining said forum at rainbow dash.com right now?

  11. @ixfocus Place your main page into a backup folder, or some place were it won't be used. And instead just leave a index.html with this in it <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html"> Change the domain and all that to the path to your forum, that way the moment people just click rainbowdash.com it takes them straight to the forum and no where else.

  13. @ixfocus Just zip it over. Copy the main page, don't need the forum part. Use megaupload, or some sort of free upload site.

  14. @ixfocus Hey Focus, could you send me over your front site? I am not the best at GFX, however I can create you a basic working site for that front page if you want me to.

  17. @ixfocus I don't have time to do moderation :P I can handle your backend dealings and setups, but apart from that I have quite a few other site releated comitments.

  18. @ixfocus It's not the coding. It's the server based backend setup which it comes with. Trying to setup something that's coded in ruby to get it working on a site, is quite hard to say the least. Compaired to sql and tables, I have to work with rubygems first and make sure the needed gems are installed. Then SSH and make sure that the install sheets are there are avaliable, if not then I need to find out why (BIG BIG PAIN). Then I have to make sure it all works on rails. Then I still have the SQL and Tables to get done. Sure Ruby allows for a much wider range of interactions, but it's still a right pain to do.

  19. @ixfocus Ah, well wait till you have to work with Rubyonrails, SSH and Rubygems. Pain. In. The. Rear. I am still trying to get around it all at this time. Getting there, but a little more difficult then the rest of te stuff I learnt.

  20. @ixfocus Not that hard :P You would be amazed how many ponies I have had to detail every little thing to just to get the files uploaded..

  21. @ixfocus just name it localhost, if your mysqldatabase is on the same server as your site itself, then localhost should do fine. @communistprime The Women all get picked on over here, sexist jokes you name it.

  22. @ixfocus Ok, what you want to do is download this for the latest phpBB. http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/olympus.php (Full package) Then I would read through this, http://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=install&version=3 it will give you the run through on installing it. I recommend placing the files into a subfolder called forum that way you don't clutter up your site to much in case you one day want a front page. If you need any help just explain to me in detail the point you are at and I will do what I can.

  23. @ixfocus It was worth it, really. A last second (almost literally) impulse buy. I can't wait to see it when I get home though, my grandma is framin' it for me right now.

  24. @ixfocus Well first thing would be for you to get it on your site, you do have access to the mysql database and phpmyadmin?

  26. @ixfocus You can get a few plugins to stop spambots from joining, and as for admins/mods that would be upto you, people who you meet or now.

  28. @ixfocus I am back, and yeah I will agre phpBB is a good one to go for. It can be a little complicated with it's backend admin system at times, setting people with user groups and so on. But it's all good never the less, something else you may be interested in is this. http://testing.dragondomain.org.uk/cmine/ It's a Photo and media storage gallery, so say you have your site and it's forum but want somewhere you users can store pics and such. They can create a acount on your Coppermine installation and create albums and what not to share, and seeing as it's on your site you decide on the rullings of it.
