    • Just a notice that the forums are (finally) back up after the hosting change. Still a subdomain problem so they're only accessible by "www.forums.rainbowdash.com" currently. We're trying to fix that, and should be done within the day.

      • @MrDragon I've got dinner, so I can't do anything. Can you try restoring the backup that's in the home directory? We can take it from there.

        • Updated !rdnrefresh to reflect the addition of a forums link at the top of the page. Username highlighting will once again work. No other changes, I haven't had the time to really look at Firefox 5 handling or to compress the menu.

        • @greydragon412 @starshine The forums are there for the people who want them. I prefer them, since it's easier to find your chat history, but to each is their own.

        • Well, I'm not giving up the forum to be hosted on this site under a different name. I'll gladly have a redirect, but that's as far as it'll go. Sorry, PurpleTinker.

          • Found it! A pain going back 8 pages on a slow connection. @ixfocus is the admin for rainbowdash.com which does not compete with rainbowdash.net

            • @ixfocus Just zip it over. Copy the main page, don't need the forum part. Use megaupload, or some sort of free upload site.

            • @ixfocus Hey Focus, could you send me over your front site? I am not the best at GFX, however I can create you a basic working site for that front page if you want me to.

            • @greydragon412 I asked the guy who runs EqD if he can give it a boost. I still need to find out who runs this site.

            • @greydragon412 Hehe, thanks. Still needs lots of work. And some form of advertising to get bronies to the forum. It's about time we had one.

            • @ixfocus It's not the coding. It's the server based backend setup which it comes with. Trying to setup something that's coded in ruby to get it working on a site, is quite hard to say the least. Compaired to sql and tables, I have to work with rubygems first and make sure the needed gems are installed. Then SSH and make sure that the install sheets are there are avaliable, if not then I need to find out why (BIG BIG PAIN). Then I have to make sure it all works on rails. Then I still have the SQL and Tables to get done. Sure Ruby allows for a much wider range of interactions, but it's still a right pain to do.

            • @ixfocus Ah, well wait till you have to work with Rubyonrails, SSH and Rubygems. Pain. In. The. Rear. I am still trying to get around it all at this time. Getting there, but a little more difficult then the rest of te stuff I learnt.

            • @ixfocus just name it localhost, if your mysqldatabase is on the same server as your site itself, then localhost should do fine. @communistprime The Women all get picked on over here, sexist jokes you name it.

              • @communistprime Well the only + about being in the British army is that about 90% of the true UK population (That's not including all these imigrants) Adore and love their army, and would do ANYTHING to help them. So when you went out to get drunk, everyone who knew the army was your friend. Kids look upto you as well, hell kids adore it all.

              • @ixfocus Ok, what you want to do is download this for the latest phpBB. http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/olympus.php (Full package) Then I would read through this, http://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=install&version=3 it will give you the run through on installing it. I recommend placing the files into a subfolder called forum that way you don't clutter up your site to much in case you one day want a front page. If you need any help just explain to me in detail the point you are at and I will do what I can.

              • @ixfocus I am back, and yeah I will agre phpBB is a good one to go for. It can be a little complicated with it's backend admin system at times, setting people with user groups and so on. But it's all good never the less, something else you may be interested in is this. http://testing.dragondomain.org.uk/cmine/ It's a Photo and media storage gallery, so say you have your site and it's forum but want somewhere you users can store pics and such. They can create a acount on your Coppermine installation and create albums and what not to share, and seeing as it's on your site you decide on the rullings of it.

                • @mrdragon Alright. I should get lunch at some point. The PhpBB one looks a bit better to be honest. It'd be good to use that. I think the site should just have the forum and webmail. I'll take everything else on there out, since it was just to test what I'd learned about HTML.

                • So, heh, funny thing... I own the www.rainbowdash.com domain name. I got it back in November. I've only just started learning HTML as you can see from the site as it is now, it's very basic. I'm hoping to get help or pass it on to somepony who can help turn it into a brony site.
