@rotation Possibly, but I don't really see what advantage it would have over the site, given it already operates in a broadly similar manner (if you have a refresher and mostly use the public timeline, with the former being planned to be integrated into the site proper anyway).

@rotation The reasons are certainly evaporating rapidly anyway- memory, storage, and bandwidth are all quickly becoming large enough to eliminate all potential arguments in favor of using less secure hash functions even in embedded systems.

@rotation None that I'm personally aware of, although NIST seems to think so or we wouldn't have SHA-3 upcoming.
