Huh: do you suppose this "PulseAudio WiFi Streaming Receiver" actually uses #pulseaudio internally, or...? https://www.vanco1.com/product/wifi-streaming-receiver/ #audio

@roland Removing #PulseAudio is still the fastest easiest way to fix sound. Almost always works.

If your #Linux distribution is having poor sound performance (means a lot stuttering) maybe #pulseaudio is installed. This was here the case: I tried to playback a 340p video from #youtube and had bad stuttering in sound. When I switched to #ALSA the hickups were simply away. So I just uninstalled it as no other program seems to want it and my system now performs very well. It is btw. a #R51 #Thinkpad with 1.7 GHz and 750 MB RAM ... So not the latest technology. ;-)

@kat I disagree that they're ad hominem attacks. #pulseaudio and #systemd are both examples of solutions in search of problems which deprived users of choice as distributions--not users--chose them and imposed their choice on users. Anyone who supports "free software" ought to be up in arms about this. And as such, we are looking at issues not just of good software practice but psychological issues of control and domination.

@daw Did you try restarting #PulseAudio? http://url.federati.net/QuwA-
Also, I found that PA doesn't like long login sessions. You may need to reboot an hour or so before you plan to record.
There's a reason I say #ALSA4Ever. -
@daw Last I knew, #Skype depended on #PulseAudio. Maybe you can restart PA and see whether Goog calling works again. (Is this something built into Gmail webmail or something different?)

Damn… need to cut a fragment of an audio file & can't find any editor that works with #pulseaudio :-/ not #audacity #jokosher #sweep nothing

I love #PulseAudio!

#PulseAudio ist für mich mitunter einer der besseren Programme für Linux ^^ http://social.bka.li/url/650530

mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0.0 -vo null -shuffle * */* # at least I have music even though #pulseaudio broke once again.

#SCU lecture recordings now require #Microsoft #Silverlight. So playing them in #VirtualBox and recording output in #Audacity via #PulseAudio to get something I can listen to while walking. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_linux.html

@speeddefrost the #pulseaudio track record speaks for itself. I still use alsa with no problems, but folk still are troubled by pa - what problem did it solve?
-
dear #pulseaudio developers. I’m sorry that I cursed on identi.ca. I just realized I had used the live ebuild from vcs… !linux
-
@tekk I’m actually thinking of dropping #pulseaudio again, though it can be really convenient - if and when it works…
-
had #pulseaudio problems in !emacs #emms via #mplayer today: emms-volume-lower/-raise killed sound. playing another file reactivated sound.

Что может быть веселее разбирания того, как заставить нормально работать звук на #PulseAudio или хотя бы #ALSA под ARM-нетбуком #Toshiba #AC100?

I don't care what people keep telling me. I don't how how "supposedly great" #PulseAudio is. I've been giving it new chances over and over and over for the last two years, and I've ALWAYS had issues with it. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. As always, I'm back to #ALSA. At least the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture WORKS.

#PulseAudio plus !kde in the Warsaw Hackerspace @hackerspacepl is just magnificent. That is all.
-
@alderwick i'd rather try this first... http://ur1.ca/a0vhq #pulseaudio

#PulseAudio 2.0 makes better use of modern hardware features http://ur1.ca/98mlu !gnu !linux !osmp

Why can't #pulseaudio just work on my !Kubuntu !GNU !Linux system? #Sound stops working randomly,how to restore it without logging out? !KDE
