  1. @techdisk can confirm, spent $400+ for my Galaxy S4 off contract and it was painful

  2. @techdisk You then pay off the difference in your contract over time.

  4. @techdisk How do you "cheaply upgrade" from an HTC One M8 ? Is Huawei really throwing out such powerfull Ascend phones ?

  5. @techdisk Yeah, plus I've been told I can work a beard but I don't see it personally. I'm just doing with because it lets me be lazy for a month.

  7. @techdisk I will probably want to pick up a HTC One M9 or HTC One M10 after my contract with Bumblebear is up. Depending on a few critical junctures, mainly whether the HTC One M9/10 will be waterproof, and whether Bumblebear is still alive around the time it/they come out.

  8. @techdisk Firefly never made it to TV down here ( well, maybe butchered and dubbed and stuff ) as such, never got into it, and it is still on my list of things to check out. I actually was thinking about Yoey Wheeler's sister when you said Serenity ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HM9tyNkUAg for "bonus" since I talk about Yoey Wheeler )

  9. @techdisk That's the same thing I named my ship in Guns of Icarus and FTL

  10. @techdisk Heh, my phones had ludicrous names over the years. First off, why is yours called Serenity ? The ones I remember were "Egg" cus it looked like one. "Crimson Vertigo" since it was a flip phone that almost launched. "Canadian Android" was my first nice android phone. And my current one is called "Bumblebear" since it can fly and tear mangoes apart when I make it fly, and it will not die ( protective Otterbox waterproof case )

  12. @techdisk Yeah, PC problems in your main PC are never fun. Most of Derpy's current parts actually came from a PC I had to replace as I was in college that time and it became very unreliable ( not sure why ) So I just bought a new one. Payne died when the motherboard or the processor's memory management/initialization lanes said "buhbye". So I bought Smores, and Smores is awesome for my first "as silent as ppssible" PC. Only problem is, I think is is somewhat of a dumb name and I really need to swap out both the video card and some Sabertooth TUF fans on my motherboard. So I guess Derpy will soon have a new part ( video card ) which was both in Payne and Smores previously... Somewhat of a dumb name "smores" ... Perhaps I shall come up with a better one one day

  13. @techdisk *gasp* That is so radical! What others have you made? Do you use a program? Or is it by hand?

  16. @techdisk Well, Derpy is prone to... Derping. Also seen as how it was necroed from parts first belonging to my P3-600 ( in before I started naming them ) ( actually only the case from the P3-600, Pure heavy metal), White-base, PowerHouse, Blind Ferret, and probably the cdrom-drive from Dominion or Rasputin. ... Kinda thought it was an appropriate name ( I use her for testing purposes mostly )

  24. @techdisk I'm just going to say "Yes, yes" followed by a bonus "yes" and mention that half a decade ago I had some trouble with the ICT guys on a pretty much same level ( sheer incompetence ) ( note : different IT team, different company ) whom heared from upper management to clam down on security risks with the USB non-security. They bolted and glued down on all non used USB ports in all PC's on the station, and installed some protection to not recognise nor install any USB device of which the hardware ID was not properly recognised. ... I was the first one who found a broken mouse ( it was litterally squished underneath a GI's boot )... So I just took one from my personal stock untill it was fixxed, it did not work ( what did you expect ), took me 2 calls, and an angry ride home to pick up an old Serial-Mouse, in order to write my damn report... Although in hindsight I could probably have done without the mouse if my super was not so grapes about spelling.

  25. @techdisk Tried the "try all the Fn-X combinations" strategy actually... Know what, I will go in early on monday morning ( maybe even on sunday because I have what you'd call the Rubix-complex, I have to solve puzzles once I get properly involved ) ... ... Wait, I just realized that the ICT department did an update to Windows 7 and they actually gave us the wrong one ( or somehting, it was not me who was on the phone with the guys ) and we do not have proper administrator rights unless if you have a smartcard, and you can't install a smart-card reader without administrator rights... Well we actually got the "wrong batch" of updates since they do not wanna give us a smartcardreader because we are "just kitchen personnel" but you get the idea, some proper Catch 22 BS going on

  28. @techdisk Tried that, no sigar. Pretty much came to live with the fact that it is. So when I type I generally type with 1 hand ( right ) on a QWERTY keyboard ( which is still faster than the head chef ) with my wrist uncomfortably high. Luckily The longest I pretty much ever had to use the keyboard ( as of late anyway ) was to search for a proper model to cut in our pumpkin.
