  1. @techdisk They're two of the same model that were bought at the same time, I think it's fine/

  2. @techdisk Maybe it's the plug, actually. I'll try putting in the plug from my sister's modem into the old one and see if that works.

  3. @techdisk seriously. My brain: "did a fuse blow? Maybe only the power block died and the actual modem is fine if you get a new adapter. What kind of plug is it?" Me: "SHUT UP BRAIN"

  4. @techdisk The modem was really, really warm when I pulled it off my TV, but that's probably from years of continuous use.

  5. @techdisk Nah, I don't smell any burning.

  6. @techdisk Doubt it. I think the most we can do is have Comcast send us a new cable box and a new modem for my room, because the broken TVs are very, very old. I'd been intending to purchase a new flatscreen for my room BUT I GUESS NOW I KINDA HAVE TO

  7. @techdisk Thank kiwiing god I had decided to unplug my laptop right before the bolt hit, because i think it would have been toast otherwise.

  8. @techdisk Perhaps, I'll check that.

  9. @techdisk (I just want to know if my room is safe. Everything I care about is plugged into one surge protector.)

  10. @techdisk The DVR downstairs was plugged into a surge protector and as far as I know that thing is dead.

  11. @techdisk The modem in my room fried, the television in both my and my sister's room is now half-broken (the screen is super discolored), and I think the DVR downstairs also broke.

  12. @techdisk I meant more the behind-the-scenes people who make the graphics and stuff rather than the actors.

  21. @techdisk heh. Well if there's a system that uses vectoring to upscale graphics that would be really interesting, but I imagine the algorithm would have to be modified for each game.

  23. @techdisk The emulator I use does no upscaling and looks basically indistinguishable from an actual PS1. Right down to the lack of depth testing!

  24. @techdisk upscaled graphics too often look muddly and bleh

  25. @techdisk Either you buy a sharpener or use a small file and file it carefully. If it's stainless steel you'll need to leave a microserrated edge for it to cut properly; if it is carbon steel a smooth edge will be best.

  27. @techdisk check someplace that sells sporting goods, you can usually find a cheap sharpener there.

  28. @techdisk if it's a straight edge, you can get a cheap steel and sharpen it on that, or get one of those electric knife sharpeners that you just put the knife in and it grinds it for you.
